Update: I requested a replacement from Amazon and it came the next morning (Sunday). I was able to use it that day with no problem, and also the following Tuesday, the 4th of July, where I made about 12 snowcones for my grandkids. All was great. I have made a few more since, and all works great. The new cups also have not cracked after about 20+ makes. It makes a great bowl of shaved ice. I already had purchased 6 flavors and all have been tried with success.. The ice was a bit 'fluffier' than a real snow-cone, but it was still great. The bottom unit can be washed, but there is a very very sharp blade (to shave the ice, of course) but there is no real 'safety' aspect...just have to be super careful. I had put some silicone on the cracked cap and it froze fine without leaking. However, I shouldn't have had to do any repairs on any new item. Instead of requesting a refund (within 30 days) Ireturned the unit and had a replacementthe next dayrow from Amazon. If everything works well over the next summer months I might consider increasing the stars. For now a 3 says it is about 'average' for my expectations, which is still better than a 1 or 2.

It works great. It comes with 2 cups you fill with water and freeze then put in ice shaved machin one at a time. The ice is shaved very fine like a snow cone machine and one frozen cup is enough shaved ice for 2 slushies! Love it! Great price too!

I had high hopes but this doesn't work well (ie. Blade is dull and doesnt cut ice block). I threw out the box so cant return. I should have bought a manual ice shaver.
