I searched and even tried other Slow cookers before settling with this one... I chose this one because first off "it works as it should", and also I really like that it has both the pre-set and the manual features.. it also has "high and Low" settings.. you can set the timer along with various other features.... The Lid is another plus on this Slow cooker, it has latches to hold it in place with the rubber edges that also assist in keeping the heat from escaping...I got the 7-QT. perfect size, and the ceramic bowl get's very hot and cooks food evenly on all sides... It seems kind of stupid- wanting a hot meal in summer- but sometimes I just want a pot roast or a pasta dish but I can't turn on the stove or oven because it overheats the kitchen. This slow cooker is awesome! I love that it's programmable for start time. It heats up very quickly and gets food into the "safe zone" in the recommended time. It's a great size for both cooking for me and for a crowd. The inner crock is nice and heavy and is easy to clean. I got it Used - Like New and I haven't had any issues. This crockpot works very well. I love the fact that it had this nice warming case that will prevent spills in the car when you’re taking something like soup to the potluck. It also has a gasket on the top and latches so that if it works to tip, it’s not likely to spell any wet or greasy contents into the car or the inside of the case. I love it. ... show more

This is quite easy to use and clean up. Be sure to be close to an outlet as the cord is very short and you shouldn’t use an extension cord. Digital controls eacy to use.

    • Look for another slow cooker.....not worth your time or money!

I had a similar size Faberware brand Programable cooker and it cooked great and loved the programable feature. After years it was on its last leg and I looked to replace it. This Crock-Pot 7 looked like it might be even a better cooker...but Like others have reported, the same "clicking" noise is happing with the Crock-Pot cooker that I ordered. Because some suggested, I have tried to fight through it and see if it goes away after using it a few times. But the issue with that is, I haven't been able to get through an entire cook with the Crock-Pot because it doesn't seem to heat properly. It gets ridiculously hot on the outside of the unit to the point where it will burn you if you touch it, but on the inside, it doesn't heat enough to cook properly. This is a lemon if I have ever seen one! Amazon should stop selling this product until Crock-Pot resolves this issue, and take an active part in resolving all these complaints. It is beyond frustrating when buying a product thru Amazon that is less than <$100, and you get it and it is defective. Then it is the hassle of re-boxing, getting return labels, driving it to a drop off or UPS store etc....and then wait for the shipping plus 7-10 days for your card to get credited back. It is frankly not worth some peoples time or frustration. If Crock-Pot wants to make it right with their customers....they should just look at all these 1-star complaints for the same issue, and automatically send you a replacement that works correctly. I doubt that will happen, so I'll just give it a 1-star review, and never buy another Crock-Pot branded product again. It's not worth my time and hassle. I'll just swing by Wal-Mart later this week, they got half a dozen brands sitting on the shelf. I'll grab another brand there. And if I have an issue with it, I can just walk it back in to Wal-Mart and return it and grab another one. ... show more

This is a great crockpot. I had to replace my 20-year-old crock pot that was able to heat up fast. I was worried that most of the newer models would take too long to heat up. Well, this crockpot allows you to have total control. I can heat things up slow or as fast as I want too. It can be a true slow cooker or reach boiling 212 (actually 211) in I think it was between 2 - 3 hours. I tested this by filling it with water and placing it on high. I think it took 2 hours to reach 211 degrees. Great cover system that latches on and seals in moisture. It's perfect and worth every penny. Oh, and it really isn't that expensive for all of its features. ... show more

This is my 3rd slow cooker. The first one, the crock cracked. I had never experienced this before. It was not dropped or banged into anything. Cheaper to buy a new one then replace the crock. Had to buy another one because we use it so much to make dog food and people food. The food is always cooked evenly and fully. We use the manual function mostly but have cooked things overnight so it's ready in the am. It is easy to tote around to pot lucks etc if needed or even moving around the kitchen. Ours basically live on the counter so the stainless steel base looks nice and cleans up well. They are used almost every other day. ... show more
