  • Loved this! It was an exciting read that had me hooked the entire time!
Format: Paperback
I absolutely loved Crimson River! I adored Lyla and Vance’s story and couldn't read it fast enough as their chemistry ignited, details emerged, and the story developed. It was sweet, emotional, and passionate with the perfect amount of light intrigue woven in. I was so hooked! I loved Lyla and Vance. From their first meeting, they had an instant connection and I was pulled in. I loved the light flirting and the building sexual attraction. The looks Vance gave Lyla made me melt! I loved learning about them, what brought them together, and the full depth of what Vance was doing in Quincy. I felt for Lyla and the pain she'd endured. I loved her strength and how she helped Vance and was there for him. I loved the small-town, homey feel like I was right there with Vance and Lyla. I appreciated that not all the secrets were given away at once, it really built, pulling me in, with all these great details. I loved the hints about Vance and the twists along the way. I loved the emotion and intensity as everything developed. It was captivating and exciting to read. As always, I loved the Eden family and how the siblings were there for one another and all their special bonds. I also loved, adored, and can't wait for what's been set up for Mateo and his heroine in the next book, Sable Peak. This was such a wonderful story. I was filled with anticipation and was excited the entire time, I had such a sense of urgency while reading. It flowed well and I loved the dual POVs. This was an excellent addition to the series and I loved every second! ... show more

  • Small town romantic suspense
Format: Kindle
This was a great read. I really have enjoyed the Edens. They are such a wonderful family and they have a close bond. Crimson River is Lyla's story. It was filled with family, suspense, mystery, and of course romance. Lyla and Vance were explosive and also sweet. They clicked so well and I liked seeing the progression of their relationship as the story moved forward. I also loved seeing the rest of the Edens, they are just the best. I was on the edge of my seat as I was reading. The twists and turns really kept me intrigued. Overall, this was a fantastic story filled with so much. I am excited for Mateo's and Vera's book. There is so much there and I am interested to see how it all plays out. ... show more

  • 5 STARS! Steamy, emotional & suspenseful small-town romantic mystery!
Format: Audiobook
Devney Perry’s Crimson River is the fifth novel in the family saga romance series, The Edens. A breathtakingly intense and deeply emotional romance, I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Perry's masterful storytelling shines through in this captivating tale of secrets and intrigue and steamy romance. I was completely enthralled by the richly developed characters and the gripping mystery unfolding against the backdrop of a small Montana town. Lyla Eden, the owner of the local Quincy coffee shop, is a hardworking, down-to-earth and driven woman focused on her business. Vance Sutter, an Idaho police officer, is on the hunt for a murderer, and the trail leads him to Quincy and Lyla. He’s spent the last four years hunting this fugitive, and he’s not looking for anything other than this man. Lyla is the last person to have encountered him, and Vance ends up in Quincy to continue the hunt. Perry expertly weaves together their stories, unraveling their secrets and exposing their vulnerabilities in a way that kept me utterly engrossed in the story. The chemistry between Lyla and Vance is electrifying, and their emotional journey was portrayed with depth and authenticity, evoking a range of emotions from heartache to hope. Perry's evocative prose effortlessly transported me to the small town of Quincy, and she skillfully balanced the romance and mystery plot arcs, creating a perfect blend of passion and suspense. I was hanging on every word as the twists and turns of the plot unfolded, and their “for now” relationship slowly morphs into forever. Perry’s impeccable storytelling, complex characters, the steamy romance and an expertly crafted plot made this a completely unputdownable read. I am counting the days until the next book in this series! Five smooches from me for Crimson River by Devney Perry! ... show more

  • The romantic suspense in this one had me hooked!
Format: Paperback
Crimson River is the 5th book in the Edens series by Devney Perry! When a new book from one of my fav authors drops, I immediately jump in. The Eden series I’ve really enjoyed and was so intrigued with this one after getting a sneak peek in the previous book in the series. This one is definitely more romantic suspense, similar to Indigo Ridge, the first book in the series! Lyla Eden owns the local coffee shop and is quite a workaholic. So one day her sister Eloise tells her she needs a break and to go take a hike (literally) or something. She goes off on a hike and when she stops at a stream to fill up her water bottle, she spots a hunter washing his bloody hands in the stream. Then he charges her, chokes her, and flees. Vance has spent 4 years chasing the same man, when he hears that the man has been spotted in Quincy, Montana after attacking Lyla, Vance shows up to track him down. He finds Lyla and notices the markings on her throat and immediately knows the man he is chasing down is the same one who attacked her. Lyla is quickly attracted to Vance and they start a sort of secret-ish, friends with benefits, hookup while he’s in town. I was super pulled into the suspense element of the story, more so than the romance! 😅 although the romance was good too and steamy. ... show more

  • “You doing ok?” “are you?”
Format: Kindle
This book was EVERYTHING. I haven’t cried over a book in a very long time and Vance and Lyla totally made cry. Their story was tragic and beautiful. Lyla was attacked while on a hike. Everyone is called in and an APB is posted. Vance is tracking a killer and gets wind of the APB and thinks this is his guy. He travels to Montana and finds Lyla. Lyla immediate gives him her trust. She’s not sure why, but she does. Vance will stop at nothing to bring her justice and his suspects family to justice. Vance fell hard. He doesn’t know it at the time, but Lyla was changing his world, slowly. Lyla wants to forget and so she goes to Vance and asks for him to make her forget. This book was full of so many emotions. Lyla and Vance knew this would never last. They knew this was just easy and in the moment type of feeling. Lyla never wanted to pressure him to stay and when Vance realizes he can trust her with his past, he tells all and at that moment, they fall in love. This book held so many twists and turns and things I never saw coming. So many secrets shared. A family that comes together for Lyla and shows Vance what it means to have a true family. Their story tore at my heart. I felt so sad for Lyla and Vance, even though you know they have to have a happily ever after, it ripped me apart. I felt the emotion from Lyla as the hours and minutes counted down. And on the day he left and her not looking back just summed up how she was feeling. She couldn’t look back because at the time she didn’t think he would be back so no reason to look back If there was ever a couple that deserved a happily ever after, it was Lyla and Vance. ... show more

  • Again another okay book
Format: Kindle
I know I said this before but this series seems to be hit and miss and this one was a miss for me. This is Lyla Eden's book about who runs the coffee shop. She goes on a hike and gets almost killed by a stranger on her hike. Lyla is strong and independent. She faces her fears about going back to where she was almost killed to help Vance who shows up to hunt down the person that almost killed her because he knows who it is. This was an instalove book and It was okay. So why the 3 stars… There were just too many things that I didn't like. This reminded me too much of Indigo Ridge. Vance is a cop hunting a killer. Vance strings his ex Tiff along for so long and the night he leaves for Quincy he's just like don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Seriously? He is rough and rugged around the edges but he is sweet to Lyla. The mystery was too much of a let down. When it all came to a head in the book I was so let down on how it all played out and the outcome of everything. I couldn't figure out why Tiff keeps coming up. She played no part in this book yet she was brought up a few times. I felt like this book was just so cold compared to some of the others. It wasn't written as well as I hoped for. It was honestly just a let down for me. There needed to be so much more in this book with Vance and his ex partner Cormac. How Vance couldn't find his ex partner hiding in the woods. I mean he trained him so why didn't he figure out how he was hiding is beyond me. I didn't really care for why Vera, his ex-partner's daughter, keeps what happened to her that night a secret. I know it is probably hard to talk about but she really needed to tell what happened so that we can understand more of the night her sister and mother were killed. This book just didn't set well with me. There was so much more needed and the author just kind of leaves it all out there. I'm excited for Matteo's book but I feel like it's going to be just as much of a let down as this one. ... show more

  • Lyla and Vance
Format: Kindle
This book was reminiscent of the first two books in the Edens. It was a little bit thriller, and little bit romantic suspense, with some pining and instant love thrown in. There were a lot of mysteries to unravel and each one was more shocking than the next. I think it was the most emotional book of the series, so far. There were some truly heartbreaking moments but they made the characters more real. This story opened with Lyla being almost strangled by a strange, scarred man in the woods. It focused on Vance and his search for the man, and while the chemistry between Vance and Lyla was instant, I did enjoy the development of their relationship. Vance revealed his secrets slowly and Lyla had to decide if she could trust him and accept the secrets as they came out. I love the Edens. They are such a close family but always open their doors for the people who walk into their children’s lives. Lyla and her family welcomed Vance into their circle, even though he was only planning to be in Quincy temporarily. I loved that Vance and Lyla found solace in one another and were able to nonverbally connect with each other almost instantly. The ending was perfect and I can’t wait to get Vera’s truth when she inevitably falls for Matteo next! ... show more

  • Thumbs up
Format: Kindle
This book was the absolutely the best of this series. Engaging characters and an interesting plot. Spoiler: my only issue, and it is slight, was why Cormac took Vera with him on the run and his initial reaction to Lyla.
