The Cricut Joy2 Ultimate bundle is a great way to dive into custom sticker, stencil, and graphic T-shirt design while operating out of a compact package, which makes it great for my hobby space being so small, oftentimes on the dinner table. The machine comes with a variety of materials in many different colors to immediately get cutting right out of the box, as well as tools to help take measurements and cuts. The setup is not great however for people that may not be technically inclined, the package pushes for you to immediately install the app which is supposed to walk you through setup, however a lot of the help videos didnt want to load on my Iphone, the machine refused to connect due to Iphone blocking Bluetooth device discovery, which I learned is a common issue. After figuring out this snafu, the rest of the setup was mostly straight forward, the machine instructs you to load a black test sheet and it quickly cuts a logo sticker as your first project. Afterwards, it opens to a world of inspiration by sharing different pre-made designs you can pick from, my first project was immediately to print some graphics to iron onto my daughter's shirt. The app helps you with size and placement of your design and it comes down to you simply having the material on hand of the right color and type. Load in your sheet and it gets cutting. The kit comes with a basic iron that is simple as plugging it in and getting it to temperature. The iron on material that you have already cut and peeled of the surrounding mask is simply arranged to your liking and stuck on before ironing in place. Its recommended you supply parchment to get an even clean heat applied. Just like that you applied your first graphic, start the process again for your next layer or colored piece and you'll have your first project. Now with my views, the process is quite laborsome, but worth it for more intricate pieces. From my understanding, the many colored pieces seem to require a lot of switching up and cutting of materials, and you have to be crafty to not overcut and waste your materials. The machine does seem to scan over the sheet to perhaps verify size, however be sure to select the right materials in the app prior to cutting, it looks to boast the efficiency of material use. I immediately wanted to try and import custom designs but its a bit tricky. I was hoping i could import a basic black and white image to turn into a template but the app seems to require a subscription to use those features to convert to a template, meaning you need to make your image into a mask or stencil with a transparent background, and even then its a bit confusing to figure out if it worked out right, which led to some wasted materials cutting out incorrectly. Its definitely possible, but just hard to explain briefly in a review. In summary, its a great kit, and I look forward to making more designs, as there is plenty of materials and tools to start you out, really your imagination and effort is the limit. ... show more

For some reason I was unable to get my new Joy 2 machine setup and working. I was very frustrated. I got on the Cricut website and at first I got a very intuitive AI helper, but it was unable to help, so I was transferred (at 8PM!) to a VERY helpful, kind and smart guy who took his time to very competently troubleshoot my specific setup and what exactly was going on and after about an hour and many different things we figured out that my very specific combination of the Android Design Space App on my specific phone was not fully completing the Bluetooth pairing process with the Joy 2 when I was adding it as a new machine to my Design Space App. But he got me all figured out!! Now my review of the Joy 2. First off I want to mention I'm an experienced Maker 3 user and I LOVE IT. After getting my new Joy 2 all setup and making a few little things, I just messaged my mom (who does about 25 cards a month on her Maker 4) to tell her she also needs a Joy 2 because it's SO QUICK AND EASY to use for small projects or the small pieces of bigger projects that you need to redo or add a quick something to. The Joy 2 mats are smaller and easier to handle and the machine itself is quick easy and VERY COMPETENT, don't let it's small size fool you! The Joy 2 kit I received has everything you need to get up and going. I received a couple insert cards, some regular vinyl and other materials to test things out with. It comes with an awesome tool kit too that is literally all you need to try out many types of projects right out of the box. There's a paper cutter, a ruler, a couple different weeding tools, a couple different scrapers, it's an awesome starter bundle that is literally all you need to get setup and do a couple projects that will absolutely give you the Cricut bug and you won't want to stop, you'll love it!! I did two projects right away, first was an insert card and the other is two permanent vinyl decals and they both went so well, I can't believe how simple the little projects are with the Joy 2. No laughing at my insert card, I lost one of the inner parts of a letter "p", it's a total rookie mistake and I honestly can't believe I did it and of course I couldn't find it to glue it on, but it's ok I'll make one. My decals I used Cricut "Smart Materials" which are made in a way that you don't have to use a mat, you simply feed it in to the machine and it's simple as that, they even weed like a breeze, I do love the smart materials but generally stick with the less expensive off brand materials. ... show more
