  • Amazing project
Style: CR Scan Otter
I had two scanners before this one and I got to, say this, this scanners outperforms the others in every aspect. It will scann anything but has trouble with thin hair. Like on older people. 😂 I love it and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

  • This is the pro-sumer scanner for the masses between Revo and Einstar
Style: CR-Scan Raptor
The media could not be loaded. My first dip into 3D scanning was with the revo point range that I got on kickstarter. I got it to scan this model in particular, and there was no amount of powder or stickers that I could place on it to get even close to this quality of a scan. The blue light laser mode on the raptor picks up an enormous amount of data as long as you've got enough tracking points with markers. It emits Blue lines for you to follow so you know where you're actually tracking. The CR scans suite is not complicated and does a decent job of merging models when you have to make multiple scans. I've picked this up for the purposes of reverse engineering parts, and it creates a suitable model for use in fusion. If you need something above the abilities of the revo point models but not as expensive as the 5k + einstar models , this is the model. The phrase prosumer was something that we lost on me but I get it in this one. It's within range of the consumer, but powerful enough to be used for professional purposes. I agree with these statements. This scanner really is the best value for the money available in 2024. ... show more

  • Need a powerful computer, slow scanning
Style: CR-Scan Raptor
Must have a Nivida graphics card 6GB of onboard memory or more, 32GB of RAM or more, i7 or better. None of this is shown anywhere in the product listing I had to find this online. Still having issues with it scanning matte black rubber objects with targets and blue light.

  • It just works
Style: CR Scan Otter
So it works. Its not complicated. Software is not the most amazing but if you just want an out of the box scanner that is not horrible this is it. Its not industrial but its accurate enough for any hobby machinist to be pleased with. Learn to use 3d scanners via youtube and you will do ok with this one. ... show more

  • Nothing usable.
Style: CR-Scan Raptor
I have tried spraying scanner talc on things, putting dots on it, turn table, no turn table, but have yet to get a decent scan. Was going to return it, but I missed the return deadline by two days!! Guess I own a super fancy pricey paperweight now…

  • Terrible product
Style: CR Scan Otter
I have tried calibrating it right out of the box it can not even read the calibration card QR code. It loses tracking every time I try to scan an object. I have tried all the different modes and it just does not work. For the amount this thing costs it should work better than the $300 scanners. I would not purchase this unless you want to be disappointed. ... show more

  • Would not recommend
Style: CR Scan Otter
The only thing this scanner scanned well was the owl figurine it came with... nothing else even comes close to being a useful model. I don't have experience with other 3D scanners, so maybe my expectations were high, and 3d scanners just aren't quite there yet... but I now hove a $900 paperweight

  • Awful.
Style: CR Scan Otter
Software is awful and scanner barely works. At least 90% of my time using this scanner was spent looking at either the "lost tracking" message or the "Insufficient valid scanned points" message. I tried experimenting due to the software. There is no preview when you're choosing scan settings, so A/B comparisons are impossible. That wouldn't be a big deal if they could be easily changed, but they absolutely cannot. To change settings, you have to start scanning with the current settings, scan some points, click stop, click confirm, wait for the scan to process, click home, click confirm, click the ellipsis under the garbage scan, click delete, click yes, click 'new project', re-enter the name, then click OK. This is especially infuriating because processing will fail if you don't capture enough frames and you can't even start the scan if the scanner can see enough points. In other words, choosing the wrong settings makes it almost impossible to go back and choose the right ones. There are 3 tracking methods: geometry, texture, and tracker. However for some reason you can only choose one, and tracker mode is useless. Even if the scanner can see enough tracker dots, it will still stop tracking if it can't see enough valid scan points. This makes it impossible to scan objects which only return scan points at certain angles; completely defeating the point of the tracker dots. ... show more
