  • Easy to use. Good results
I suspect issues people have stem from getting used to positioning the camera. I had it set for wireless use with a phone in 5 minutes. It’s light on printed instructions but has links to more info. Did 2 scans within the hour and was impressed with the detail. A turn table for objects likely would improve scans. However I got great results hand held. Better results than simple phone based apps ... show more

  • Waste of money
Is not easy to use and works in 1 of 10 objects. It loses track almost everytime. It requires to spend tons of time to get a mediocre result. Not worth it.

  • You have to start somewhere, and this is a good unit to start with. But don't expect miracles
Due to its relatively low price and advertised features, the Creality CR-Scan Ferret Pro Scanner is the first 3D scanner that I have purchased and used. After watching five YouTube videos, I was convinced that it would be easy to use. I should have watched more. It didn't live up to my expectations. My first attempts at using the scanner and software were maddingly frustrating. It lost tracking in really strange ways. Several of the videos recommended using MeshMixer to "clean up" the scans before slicing. I found it even more frustrating because it lacks features that I needed. With that said, after two days of watching more videos and trying things, I'm beginning to get useful results using just the included software. I was able to make a decent 3D print of a small toy by slowing down and varying the placement of the scanner. Dimensionally, it was spot on. The software produced a usable SVG file that Cura sliced without error for my old SeeMeCNC delta printer. I am now convinced that it will be a very useful tool for scanning in the small parts that I want to replicate. But it will be a slower process than I expected and will not handle some things. My recommendations for newbies is to watch critical videos so that you understand the process and limitations of 3D scanning before you purchase a unit. From what I have gathered after the fact, the Ferret Pro is a very good scanner, especially for the price. The problems that I experienced are due more to physics and lack of understanding than to any faults of the scanner. The scanner is built very well, seems rugged, comfortable to hold and use, and should last well. The case is sturdy, the tripod is stable, and cables well marked. The instructions are minimal, but I was able to assemble correctly using them. The only design improvement I would like to see is a way to change the height of the scanner. The tripod is a fixed height unit. But a couple books solved that problem. ... show more

  • Pricing and quality
Have been looking for a 3D camera for 3D printing that won't break the bank. This is a good quality entry level camera from a reputable company. There is a learning curve to get the pics right. Do yourself a favor and get a turntable and lighting setup for better photography. It will not have all the bells and whistles of the higher priced cameras but it also doesn't cost what those cameras cost. It is a good starting point for anyone needing 3D for cad/cam/3Dprinting. Just understand what you are buying. ... show more

  • Not a great scanner.
Tend to lose tracking easily. Does not do a great job scanning. Should just save up for a more expensive better made system.

  • Great Product for the Value
Bought this to make 3D models for our 3D printer. Works great! A bit of a learning curve but anyone who works with 3D printers shouldn't have any trouble with this product.

  • Scanner is great but wifi bridge is unsecured and dangerous for your environment
So the scanner itself is pretty good. Make sure you read the on screen prompts while scanning. It will help you learn how to efficiently use the scanner. Pro tips are below. Now for the serious part. The wifi bridge is an unsecured open network. This means anyone can join. Do not use this item unless you live very far from your neighbors. Anything connected to this network will be open to anyone in wifi range. Extremely dangerous. Tip: The scanner needs a rich geometry to be successful. I found that scanning from above the item at about a 45 degree angle while rotating only the object worked great. I would the stop the scan rotate the object and start a new scan. Then you can put those scans together in the creality app to make one full object. From what I hear from my friends in CGI. This is how it is normally done. You can also step up the scan game by switching to marker mode at scan setup page and using a rotating plate with markers built in. ... show more

  • Didn't work
Do not buy. It does not track. I don't think my iPhone could handle the data needed. It might work for little objects, but not for what I needed it for. I found it useless. I returned it and bought the Otter.
