  • Works as promised!
This is a nice electric mower! I like it because it is corded which makes it lighter than the battery powered type. It was more affordable too! I hadn't mowed the weeds in my yard for 10 years, and my son had little trouble mowing them down. I appreciate the power of the machine. I'm quite pleased with the quality of this item. ... show more

  • Super lightweight, easy to use.
I've used this mower a few times now, just got it at the beginning of mowing season. I really like this mower, it's super light and easy to maneuver, and for me it's a lot easier on my back. I don't have a very big yard -- wouldn't recommend it if you do -- and while I do have a couple of trees and a birdbath, keeping the extension cord out of the way is no big deal. Yeah, it's a bit more tedious than not having a cord, but not really a problem for me with my yard. My only complaints, and they are minor, are the bale that is you have to hold down to keep it on is not very comfortable and seems to really want to spring up and turn off. I only mention it because I can imagine someone with maybe arthritis or some other issues with their hands may find it a bit hard, because it doesn't have to lift much to turn the power off. Yes, it is great to have it as a safety feature, just something I noticed with mine. The only other issue thus far is that the cover for the back grass chute when not bagging does not have a very powerful spring system. When mulching, grass fairly easily blows out of it. Not like the whole thing just gets propped fully open, it's just a couple of inches, but it really shouldn't do that. Duct tape to the rescue, of course...just a couple small strips and it stays shut and easily removed when I do need to bag. Neither of my complaints kept me from rating this a 5, though. I so far have just been quite well pleased at how easy it is to work with, and how much happier my back is :) It does a great job with the yard. Anyway, just my 2 cents. ... show more

  • Nice corded mower, annoying safety bail and loud
This is my 4th corded mower, and tied for 1st place with an ancient two-bladed B&D which had a flip handle. That was a great feature I haven't seen since. Usually these mowers have the handle rust out or mice kill the motors. This will have those issues, but is no worse than others. I had questions about the weight since specs seem to vary. I think the stated 21lbs is correct, but have no way to weigh it. The box says 34, and perhaps that is the boxed weight, which includes the grasscatcher. This thing is *really* light, which makes it easy to handle on slopes, which I need. That is the best feature. It has a very lightweight blade, so there is little momentum to the rotation, and it will bog quickly in heavy grass, slowing down and partial cuts help. It is not as powerful as I anticipated but should serve well as long as the grass doesn't get really long. It mulches well. The negatives: 1) LOUD! You need ear protection, still quieter than a gas mower. 2) The safety interlock mechanism uses the usual bail which must be held down to the handle for the mower to run. The bail is very uncomfortable and must be right down on the handle. It it rises 1/4" you get shutdown. It is difficult to tie the bail down and keep it close enough to avoid shutdown. I used hook and loop material which didn't work adequately, but is better than nothing. 3) the plug is polarized with no ground, but very loose in my extension cord. It should use spring-type contacts, but just has straight thin blades. It will detach at the slightest excuse, even when tied to the extension cord. 4) When mulching, there is considerable spraying of fragments out the back of the mower, where the flap for the grass catcher is inadequately sprung against the housing. Gorilla tape fixes that. I have not tried the grass catcher. Overall, it is a decent mower at a good price. None are perfect. I will work out methods to avoid it's little gremlins. And it avoids the pollution of gas mowers at the cost of managing cordage, which is a PIA, but worth it. ... show more

  • Worth it! CRAFTSMAN Electric Lawn Mower, 20-Inch, Corded, 13-Ah (CMEMW213), Red
This Review is for CRAFTSMAN Electric Lawn Mower, 20-Inch, Corded, 13-Ah (CMEMW213), Red. I decided to replace my ancient gas Craftsman w an electric. I was sure I would get a cordless but I have had so much trouble w batteries for power tools and blowers/edgers in addition to the research I did and high cost of batteries, I decided to give corded a try. My yard is mid-sized front and back. I had a lot of high weeds and sticks in the back where I grow wildflowers every spring/summer. This mower took them in stride no problem. Height is easy to adjust and mower is pretty light being easy to push. Turns out the cord is not a problem at all. I bought a good Orange 100’ cord. Just lay it out so it feeds to you as you progress across the yard. No batteries and no maintenance! No gas and no oil! I made the right decision. It cuts really well and I’d never buy a mower with less than a 20” cutting blade. It’s great. ... show more
