Great electric mower
This is the third electric mower I've owned. I was upgrading from an American Lawn Mower Company 50514 14" 11-Amp Corded Electric Lawn Mower. I originally wasn't sure how long I would have a lawn or how much I would have. I chose this one because it had more power, a wider deck, could cut a taller height and was a known to me brand. The first one I ordered came in the manufacturer box and had clods of mud and grass all over it... clearly used. The motor smoked the first time I turned it on and it didn't cut grass. The replacement did not come in manufacturer packaging and looked like it had some scuff marks on it... so it's possible that this model is like end of life or something because I am ordering 'new' products and only getting used ones. That said, this is a massive improvement over the American Lawn Mower model I am replacing. The first mow of the season would take 45 minutes to an hour generally with the old mower because the grass is wet and long and the moss layer under it is thick and the highest the old mower could cut was 2.5". It took me 15 minutes to knock it out today. Also, there is probably a subjective measurement for sweat and soreness in there somewhere and I'm neither right now. I'm way excited to spend way less time and fewer spoons mowing this year. Whereas the last one was a glorified hunk of plastic, this one uses metal in the right places so definitely feels more solid and quality. The metal bar is a little uncomfortable to hold down and it does take some constant pressure to hold it down. I can see how that could be irritating with arthritis or something but I am already thinking of ways to wrap something around it while I mow so that I don't have to hold it down. Safety first, folks! Definitely buy an extension cord that is rated for AT LEAST 13 AMPS. More than likely the first one I got that was smoking was probably sent back because it burned out because they used an extension cord that was rated for 10 amps or something. It's pretty lightweight given how much more power and width it has on my old one. I saw varying weights and I'm a terrible judge of that but I'd guess 30 lbs or so. To all the reviews that talked about cords getting in the way and the plastic clips : that has nothing to do with this particular mower. Cord management is an electric mower skill set. Laws of physics preclude little plastic clips from helping even a single bit no matter the mower, clip or brand.

Very easy to push or pull.
I just mowed my yard for the first time with this Craftsman corded mower, and it worked well. It's so light compared to my Craftsman gas mower. So easy to push or pull. Very easy to change the cutting height. The thing that surprised me the most was how much grass it picks up in the bag. I would say it picks up 2-times or 3-times as much as my gas mower did. Maybe because the blades are brand new and super sharp. My lawn looks good and it puts out less noise for my neighbors. When I edge my lawn, the grass and dirt goes out onto the sidewalk. You can run this mower right down the sidewalk and it picks up grass and dirt like a vacuum cleaner. It is incredible. Saves me so much time. I run this mower on a 130-foot 12-gauge extension cord, and it works great. Update: Every now and then unplug the mower and turn it on its side. Look around the edge of the rotary housing for mud, dirt, and grass build-up. Especially if you mow when the grass is damp or wet. Scrape it out with a trowel or other tool. It's easy. You can also inspect the blades while you're at it. Unplug first! I've mowed my own lawn for 32 years and this is my favorite mower by far.

Decent performer
I have experience with an old Honda gas-powered mower, but haven't had to use any type of lawnmower in decades. We acquired a few properties that require regular lawncare. This is our first electric powered mower and it performed better and quieter than expected. It won't stand up to professional usage, but it could handle our needs twice monthly. I appreciate not having to keep any gas on the premises, but will have to get used to being tethered by a long extension cord. The motor did have trouble with tall grass, but we don't anticipate the grass ever reaching such heights again. The height adjustment is done in one easy step. Because the lawnmower is mostly made from plastic, it is pretty lightweight and can be lifted from the truck without assistance or opening the tailgate. I'd recommend this mower if you don't have a huge area to maintain as it cuts a wider path than most lower-priced corded mowers, and it's a capable alternative if you're not quite ready to commit to a battery-powered model if your desired cordless tool system offers such an option.

Oh yeah buddy
My 7 year old off brand electric mower died a slow death. So after much research I got this Craftsman mower. I didn't realize how much easier life could be. My old mower was ok but seriously underpowered for the crabgrass and weeds that make up my big back yard. This Craftsman is 12 amps. Between the time my old mower died and my new one arrived, it was almost a month and several rainstorms later. This yard normaly gets mowed twice a week so by the time I got the Craftsman the weeds and crabgrass were knee high in some places. I thot about using the Weedeater to knock it down some but hey, what a test of a new mower. Ended up being pleasantly surprised. I could only do about a 4 inch swath each round, I had to empty the bag about every 10 or 12 feet and it did bog down a few times. But we're talking about knee high weeds here. I've had the same results using my nieghbor's expensive hi powered gas mower several years ago. And unbeknownst to me, the grass wasn't as dry as I thot it was. It took 2 days (I had to quit due to the heat) but I got it done. A week later I mowed again and was amazed at how much easier it was than with my old mower. I cut a full 20 inch swath. This one is bigger, more powerful and the grass bag holds a really decent amount of clippings. And it's way easy to put on and take off. My dogs like to pick up sticks and break them into pieces and leave them everywhere. The Craftsman hit these hidden gems and blasted right thru them. I have trumpet vine springing up everywhere. No problem, chewed them up and spit them out. My front yard is small and has mostly Burmuda and Buffalo grass and a million little sticks from the trees. I finished it in less than half the time it used to take. Going from a twelve inch wide cut to a 20 makes a world of difference. And this mower has the power to do it. I've only mowed 3 times with this, so time will tell. Since it is a Craftsman, I can get parts and service if I need it. I can mow one handed if I want to manage the cord with the other. Its lightweight enough to toss in the back of my SUV if need be. (And I'm a 67 year old woman with bad knees) My only complaint is supposedly you can break down the handle and store it under a shelf. Technically this is true, but the reality its it's kind of a pain in the ass to undue the screws. So I probably won't be doing that. It kinda sucks because that was one reason I bought this model, but hey, that's my problem. It is rather loud but not as bad as a gas mower. All in all I'm very happy with it. It was easy to assemble right outta the box. Just be sure to have the proper gauge extention cord (I think mine is a 12 gauge, 50 feet long) and 10 minutes after you open the box, you'll be mowing!!

Save Your Time & Save Your Money
No or negative stars. One of our two chosen options for a corded mower. It was very beautiful and easy to set-up. Our 1st mower's engine started to smoke on initial use so we called Amazon to send us a replacement. The replacement came a few days later, and it worked fine for the 2 short mowing intervals. When we went out a third time the next day, the motor suddenly died. Our initial ordered was placed on August 11th, we ordered our replacement on August 20th, and the 2nd model stopped working on September 8th. The grass on the lawn was less than 4 inches long. We failed to understand why this has happened not once but twice. So disappointed and such a waste of time. We had purchased additional insurance just in case but since we were within the 30 days, Amazon was responsive to our return requests. Wish I could say the same about UPS.

Chorded mower
I have used this mower twice using a 100' 12 gauge heavy duty extension cord and a 50' cord. The 13 amp motor has enough power for a majority of situations but it did bog down a little when i hit an area of the yard that still had some dew on the grass. The grass in that area was also 6" - 8" tall. My old gas mower would have bogged going through that as well. Had it not been wet i am sure this mower would have been just fine going through this. As it was i simply needed to slow my pace going through that area. The mower is very quite compared to a gas mower. It is a little odd only hearing the blade spin and when you mow over small limbs the sound of those limbs hitting the plastic deck was a little concerning but the deck held up fine. I decided on a chorded mower because i will only need it a few times before winter and the mower will then be going to long term storage for two or three years. While i could prep a gas mower for long term storage and hope it runs like new when i need it again i know for certain this chorded electric mower will be fine being stored for that length of time. I have had a chorded blower for 25 years. It has seen five gas blowers come and go during that time and has never let me down. I have only had self propelled gas mowers in the past so i was concerned i would miss a self propelled mower but i found this mower to be very easy to push through the yard even in one area that is sloped. I found mowing with a chorded mower takes some planning. You need to lay the extension chord out on one side of the yard and mow back and forth away from the chord but overall i found the chord to be a non issue. I am pleased with this mower.

It's easier to use than my old mower
I have been very pleased with my new lawn mower. My last electric push mower, also a Craftsman, died after about 20 years of use. When I opened the box on the new one, I was disappointed to see plastic wheels. It seemed on the cheap side to me. However when I first used it, I noticed that it was much lighter in weight than the old mower. It makes it much easier to push and maneuver around obstacles in my yard. I’m on the short side. 5’5”, so it makes a difference. Not only is it easier to push but I was able to cut wet grass without the chute from the blade to the collection bag getting clogged up. When the lawn was wet with my old mower the chute between the blade area and the collection bag would get clogged up and I’d have to stop every few minutes to unclog it. I just mowed a wet lawn yesterday and the chute, which is redesigned, did not clog at all. And the collection bag fills up almost all the way. So I must say that I’m very pleased with my new mower and its ease of use.

Nice corded mower, annoying safety bail and loud
This is my 4th corded mower, and tied for 1st place with an ancient two-bladed B&D which had a flip handle. That was a great feature I haven't seen since. Usually these mowers have the handle rust out or mice kill the motors. This will have those issues, but is no worse than others. I had questions about the weight since specs seem to vary. I think the stated 21lbs is correct, but have no way to weigh it. The box says 34, and perhaps that is the boxed weight, which includes the grasscatcher. This thing is *really* light, which makes it easy to handle on slopes, which I need. That is the best feature. It has a very lightweight blade, so there is little momentum to the rotation, and it will bog quickly in heavy grass, slowing down and partial cuts help. It is not as powerful as I anticipated but should serve well as long as the grass doesn't get really long. It mulches well. The negatives: 1) LOUD! You need ear protection, still quieter than a gas mower. 2) The safety interlock mechanism uses the usual bail which must be held down to the handle for the mower to run. The bail is very uncomfortable and must be right down on the handle. It it rises 1/4" you get shutdown. It is difficult to tie the bail down and keep it close enough to avoid shutdown. I used hook and loop material which didn't work adequately, but is better than nothing. 3) the plug is polarized with no ground, but very loose in my extension cord. It should use spring-type contacts, but just has straight thin blades. It will detach at the slightest excuse, even when tied to the extension cord. 4) When mulching, there is considerable spraying of fragments out the back of the mower, where the flap for the grass catcher is inadequately sprung against the housing. Gorilla tape fixes that. I have not tried the grass catcher. Overall, it is a decent mower at a good price. None are perfect. I will work out methods to avoid it's little gremlins. And it avoids the pollution of gas mowers at the cost of managing cordage, which is a PIA, but worth it.
