    • Much better than expected
I hit the link - "other sellers" - and bought what I thought was a used 20" Craftsman Chainsaw with cosmetic issues, indicating some use. The box arrived a few days later and much to my surprise the saw was packaged, along with the case in plastic. I unwrapped it and found NO scratches or cosmetic issues. The bar and chain were brand new. I unscrewed the bar/chain oil and gas compartments - and brand new. I received a brand new chain saw with a 50% discount. I filled the saw with bar oil and the right gas mix. It started on the second pull. I cut up 30 8' long maple logs - given to me by a local tree guy, who cut down a few trees near by - that were 8-20" in diameter. First six hours of use - turning these logs into firewood lengths for my splitter - suggest that this is a fabulous tool. My research indicates that Stanley Black & Decker owns Craftsman - along with Poulon and Husquarvana. So I rolled the dice with buying supposedly a "used" chainsaw for half the price of a new one - ended up with a solid performing chainsaw. ... show more

I’ve had a 16” craftsman for 10 years and it always started and functioned well. I then got a 20” Pulan and it was a disaster. Trouble starting, poor design, I then got the 20” craftsman and all is well again. It can cut good size trunks as long as the chain is kept out of the dirt. Adjustments are simple and so far it starts on the first pull. A word of caution. It’s heavy compared to the 16” so overhead work is dangerous. ... show more

Love how easy it starts! Unlike one of my other brands, this saw truly starts in one pull. Unlike most these days, it still comes with a case. Cuts like a beast. The only negative has nothing to do with the saw. Amazon has a "frequently bought together" replacement chain saw as an option to buy. I got it thinking they had the right chain picked, but it wasn't so. So, look for the right replacement chain. Don't assume they picked the correct one. Other than that, great saw and much cheaper than the leaders. Craftsman still does well! ... show more

This is a great saw, and more than powerful enough. I'm glad I chose the 20" 46CC model, but you could probably do great with the smaller and lighter models unless you're cutting a lot of wood. This one is quite heavy so you'll want to take breaks and defiantly not saw overhead unless you're well rested. That being said, a stronger motor means faster cuts and a long chain means it stays sharp longer. I'm very happy. My saw was damaged in shipping and Amazon made it right immediately. The Craftsman CMXGSAMA426S 46cc 2-Cycle 20-Inch Gas Powered chain saw performs well. Had a 50 year old pecan tree taken down (reluctantly) and have been salvaging the the wood for smoking, fire-wood and project wood. This saw has adequate power for cutting 20"+ diameter tree trunk. Following the starting instructions, it will consistently start easily and runs it well. Pleased so far... and would recommend it for occasional use. 5th star will depend on its longevity. ... show more

    • Excellent saw, performs well.
The saw is great, used a few times and it cranks right up each time. My only issue and it's pretty minor is that the case arrived damaged. I'd seen this in other reviews. I don't haul it and it can still be used to store it. It's a bit of an odd design, and when you consider that it's supposed to protect the saw in transit it's a little odd it can't accomplish that inside a shipping carton from the factory in the first place.
