    • AW1 works as designed with firmware update, compare to Reconyx
I have an urban forest and use cellular cameras to stop illegal trespassing. Wireless internet is very hard to push into a forest. I have three Reconyx Cellular, 8 AW1, and 1 Covert WC-30A. First, with the AW1, update the firmware. V13 is the most current. Some of my cameras will only update manually to V12, and tech support apparently cannot send V13 by email, only V12. Even with the firmware update, some of my cameras had trouble taking PIR and Time Lapse photos. I turned them on and off, and eventually, they started working as designed. Second, as to features, the big benefit of AW1 is the field of view is about 60 degrees, while the Reconyx Hypefire is about 40 degrees. This means the AW1 will capture activity in a much larger area. Wifi internet cameras go even wider, usually 100+ degree. The big downside to the AW1 is it only transmits the first photo, while Reconyx will send each photo taken. Reconyx also resets itself nearly immediately, so if more action occurs, there is no delay in taking photos. Covert technical support has been responsive. Though, Covert has many camera models and I think it is a gamble whether the model is good. The E1 and E2 took a lot of empty photos. WC-30 has had numerous firmware updates. Overall, I am sure the Reconyx is more durable, but technology continuously improves and today's cameras will not be as good as cameras in a few years. The wider field of vision on the AW1 and the lower cost are good reasons for me to buy them. ... show more

    • OK Product - Needs Improvement
I have 3 of these cameras up and running. The picture quality is decent (even though there is a 20mp option, the pictures don’t come through with that high quality). The battery life is still to be determined…I’ve had cameras out for 3 days and one is already at 60% battery life. Know Flaws: 1. These cameras only work when using Coverts Cards. I tried 3 different SD cards and after speaking to support I was told that they were “too fast” for the camera, so I finally purchased the Covert SD cards. If they know people are having issues with cards, they should include a card with the camera. 2. Bursts and videos are not sent to the app. In order to see the burst photos or videos, you need to pull the card to view them. That defeats the purpose of having a cell camera. I have other cameras and the video and bursts are all sent to the app. Great customer/technical support and decent trigger speed. If they can work on a few of the above issues, this would be a great product. ... show more

This camera is awesome! Tech support was great. AT&T service in my area is almost perfect, no issues there. The 20MP photos are crisp. The app is pretty simple to use. Notifications come through very well. BUT this did not work with a SanDisk micro SD. I had to use another brand and it worked perfectly. Customer service told me they could have issues with SanDisk cards. They suggested Sony or their brand. I'm actually using a Wal-Mart brand ONN because that's all I had available. ... show more

The camera works great, the seller said it was a 22 megapixel and when I received it, it was a 20 megapixel. When I contacted them they said to send it back, I had already put it on my hunting land, to far away to retrieve it. Make sure to ask your seller before they ship it. It worked great for a while. There’s not real setting to Jew it from sending pics all DAMN day. How much wind can one person look at. Plus it would get condensation on the lense inside and one the parts that were “ water tight “. I have plenty of money to buy any camera I want, THIS WILL NEVER BE ONE OF THEM AGAIN. Great camera. App and camera very easy to set up. Covert website has lots of videos that walk you through set up step by step. Pictures aren’t crystal clear but good enough for what it’s used for. Love the cellular feature and that notifications are sent to my phone as soon as motion sensors trigger to take a picture. ... show more
