  • Sturdy and safe.
Style: Flat Coupler
Very safe device for towing my trailer. Loxking pin prevents any chance of coming detached while towing.

  • Solid!
Style: Flat Coupler
Just make sure you install it properly. I see a lot of people ...most....install incorrectly and it bend the retaining ring. I see the same thing when I work on kids bikes with improperly installed training wheels.

  • Choose the one that looks like it will work with your trailer.
Style: Angled Coupler
I got an instep Kiddo trailer 2nd hand and it didn't come with the coupler. I looked at the diagram here, and I talked to 2 different people from instep, and they both suggested the flat coupler based on the model and date code information on the trailer. I really didn't get it, because the trailer arm obviously comes in at a 45 degree angle to the bike, not 90 degrees. So i disregarded the advice of the people i talked to, and ignored the pictures on this listing telling you how to choose the right coupler and just got the angled one. It worked out perfectly. I still don't understand in what world the straight one would be a better choice for this trailer. Maybe mine is a fluke, or maybe I'm not using it right, but ive got on 2 decent rides and it works great. I would have had to bend the spring quite a bit to get it into a flat coupler. Anyway, besides that, its easy to install, sturdy, and works great. I used it on a 29" Trek Xcaliber mountain bike and it fit like a charm. ... show more

  • Works just fine
Style: Angled Coupler
This trailer bike hitch works just fine. Had to adapt the washers on my e-bike to make it work, but after that was great and easy to finish the install. Our e-bikes have a thick area that makes it hard er to mount it is all. In the end it worked just fine. Tows the little trailer the dogs ride in just fine. Strong and well made. I would buy it again if the need came up. ... show more

  • Perfect for our tow behind carrier
Style: Flat Coupler
This is working out great so that we have one on each of our bikes and can easily switch who is pulling our dog on our bike rides.

  • Strengthening the Hitch
Style: Flat Coupler
After a year of pulling approximately 100 lbs averaging over once a month, I found I needed to add strength to the hitch as it began bending. I first made a prototype gusset out of 4ct building tie down straps (~ 3/16"T total) then went to a solid metal flat bar 1-1/4"W. I cut 5"L and rounding corners. I drilled 2ct 13/32" holes for the axle and hitch hub mount. A stainless steel 3/8"d x 3/4"L bolt with lock washer to mount hitch in which I also cut out for the key way washer that comes with the hitch using a metal cutting saw blade. A # 8 stainless steel 3/4"L bolt to mount as security to the bike frame tail drilled @ 3/16". 4ct #6 s.s. 3/4"L bolts (2ct top & 2ct bottom) of the hitch drilled @ 5/32" using cobalt drill bits to drill through the bar as also the 5/32" hitch holes (using a metal punch to start the bits cleanly while hub bolted and clamped at center top). Titanium bits can work but have a tendency to break. Keep the bits oil cooled while drilling. Being that I know the hitch is not for industrial use as I use it, for children involved, the gusset is the way to go for added safety. I recently ordered another hitch and again, extremely pleased with the fast shipping. Nevertheless, for the design I give it five stars. ... show more
