We love to entertain and lots of time is spent in or around the kitchen and dining room. Every once in awhile, we have an opportunity to cook center-table (typically a hotpot or Japanese sukiyaki). After stumbling upon some cooking videos that used a portable burner, I took the opportunity to grab one and I'm happy I did. I went with the single burner as I didn't see much use with the dual but now I kind of wish I did (eg, to keep extra broth or sauces warm on the table vs on the kitchen stove). If I ever wanted to do a cooking video, I'd happily use this one to demonstrate a recipe. Heats up fast, though the entire case seems to get hot so definitely do not touch after use for 5-10 minutes (depending on how hot you went up to). The knob is basic (as others have mentioned) but who cares - I got it for the burner, not the knob. For those thinking about using this for car camping, they don't recommend it, but keep this plugged in properly and level, I can't see what the problem is or how operation is any different than inside the home. Solid product so far. Will update review if this changes.

The media could not be loaded. This isn't a bad burner and it's in fact very decent if you can get past its downsides. Especially at under $20. This is a great little burner if you need a single burner to use. It heats up quickly and gets very hot, and it's very straightforward to use and well made. It's got everything you could want out of a basic single burner, including a metal surface, 5 different heat settings, and fast heating and cooling-off afterwards. It's also lightweight despite its metal construction, so it's easy even if you need to take it across the house or across the block. However, the whole unit does get hot during use, outside of the dial, which is unfortunately a hollow plastic dial that feels cheap. The instructions warn you to only use this indoors so it's not useful for camping situations. Additionally, there was a whole lot of smoke coming out of it during the first use, which the instructions warn you is just because of the anti-rusting coating on the heating coil, but honestly it could have been done before shipping, it smelled and looked pretty bad. The burner overall feels very solid and well made, with its metal construction and durable cord. It heats up pretty quickly and it doesn't seem to have any issues remaining hot for long periods of time. Unfortunately it does mean the whole unit, not just the burner, gets hot eventually, so you will have to avoid picking it up or touching it while it's hot. When you first turn on the burner, for quite a while (5-10 minutes), there's a fair bit of smoke that pours out of, and off of, the burner and the unit overall. You're warned about this in the instructions, but it really doesn't smell or look nice. It eventually clears up and doesn't come back, but it would have been nice to have that handled at the factory or during QA testing, instead of making the customers breathe that in. It's not a nice smell. The dial on the front of it all is the main 'feels cheap' part of this burner. The dial you use to select the heat level, and that you use to turn it off afterward, is just a hollow plastic with a plastic ring around it. I understand why it's not made of metal but it at least could have been a solid piece of plastic, it really doesn't make you confident about turning the dial or its longevity. You cannot use this for camping or any outdoor activity. No, I don't know why aside from the instructions telling you "DO NOT use this appliance outdoors." Aside from the fact that you need an outlet, and that you aren't supposed to get the unit wet, it's not stated why exactly it's not possible to use outdoors. But if you need a stove for camping, you'll have to look elsewhere. I only review things that I personally use myself on a regular and continued basis. I always give my full, honest, unbiased and unfiltered opinion on everything I review. I will not hold back or avoid describing any issues I have with a product. I write exactly what I think about things - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the questionable. And, I will update my review if something breaks, stops working as intended, or otherwise doesn't hold up as expected.

Right off the bat, when you first get this peel off the stickers on the top & sides, plug it in, set it to 5 (the highest degree) and let it go for 10 mins or so. Do this either under a vent or outside because there's going to be an almost alarming amount of smoke for the first 5-7 mins. I'm not sure what exactly is burning off, but whatever it is, it smells awful and certainly isn't something I want seeping into my food. After 10 mins, the smoke is gone as is the smell and I can only assume that it'll now be safe to use. The heating element is fantastic. It heats up fast and very evenly. However it does stay hot for a very long time (from that initial 10 minute max burn, it was still hot 30 minutes after I'd unplugged it). There is an on/off light. However, it intermittently turns off & on during use, which means it's really letting you know when the unit is actually drawing power from the outlet. My only complaint is that the cord is a tad bit shorter than I'd like (probably around 3ft). But overall, an excellent portable 1000w burner at a fair price.

This product arrived on time. The quality is excellent for this price point making it a good value. I was able to use it easily and then when I was finished, I was able to move it to the side. I love the portability. I will note that it cleaned up nice and easily. I am moving away from gas ovens and this is a nice way to get started. Overall I am very pleased with this product and considering purchasing another.

Great little burner especially at this price point. So, it's simple to use, and works quite well. The burner gets extremely hot and heats very evenly. There's good adjustability of the heating element so you can cook at a low, medium or high heat. It's pretty simple. There's one nob for each burner, and dials from 1 (low) to 5 (high). There's a lot of plastic on this product, so I'm not sure how well it will hold up in the long run. But I plan on using it only on certain occasions, and not to replace my stovetop completely. We're having our kitchen remodeled here soon s this will come in handy for those couple months. This would also come in handy to keep food warm if you're hosting a party at home, or it's small enough you could bring it into the office for an event.

I used the dual burner in an RV, on the road so I appreciate the dual control and the low watt burner to conserve electricity and use of my inverter. It's a compact unit and they may have had people like me in mind when they built it. Having the 800 side is a godsend. Or I can use them both together the grill on top. I've been using it a lot with the stove top pressure cooker to conserve and be efficient. Either side will keep that pressure cooker at just the right temperature. You should get one of these, smaller size is a countertop space saver in the kitchen as well.
