Even at its greatest fan speed, the device runs quietly, making it ideal for usage at night or during the day. I got this as a backup AC unit for emergencies and projects; therefore I haven't really "needed it" at this point in time. However I unboxed it and tested it out for the sake of this review. In comparison to my old 12000BTU unit from some years ago (from another brand) it is a bit quieter. This one has de-humidification which is similar to my other one. It fills a little pan/drains out via a line and the air doesn't come out as cold. Unfortunately this is a single hose unit just like my 12000BTU unit which means it creates negative pressure in a room which in FL makes all the hot air want to come in from everywhere.... Otherwise it works pretty decently like other single hose units. Remote works well, much better range vs my old unit but it does need to be pointed in the direction of the AC or it doesn't register. Overall time will tell how well it holds up but I am happy with it for now. ... show more

The instruction booklet states that the air exhaust hose is shipped with the couplers for the inlet and outlet hose already attached. They aren't. There are no directions on how to attach them, and it's quite a challenge. The hose kept coming detached while I was trying to install the unit, which made installation take twice as long. The drainage tube is very short. It works with a bucket, but it doesn't leave much wiggle room. It would be better if they included a longer hose that could be cut to the consumer's needs. We plan to purchase a longer one as it will make us feel more secure that it won't accidentally come out of the bucket in my daughter's room. The unit is easy to use and understand and we appreciate the remote that's included. The timer system is awesome because we can set it to turn off in the middle of the night, so we're able to use less energy. It's a decent unit, but there are definitely ways it can be improved. ... show more
