I looked at many portable A/Cs and this one seemed the best buy. I use it for a two bedroom upstairs loft. It was easy to assemble and works well. The sound is minimal compared to an old air unit I had prior. I drain it directly into an unused bathtub and out a small window. The only suggestion that I would make is to create a window slide for a smaller sized window. I use cardboard for the time being and it works fine though. The unit doesn't keep the area (about 400 sq ft) cold, but it definately makes it cool, which I like! Knowing the down sides to portable ACs (inefficiency and noise), i was skeptical. But i decided to try this one. I live in western WA, so no over 100 degree temps and very little humidity. This unit works great overall with limitations. Cons: -When temps reach 90s, it struggle to bring temps down below 75 degrees in a room of 150 square inches. -When compressor is running, it draw 10.2 amps, so in a room circuit breaker that is rated at 15 amps, you want be able to run other demanding devices (hair blower) as it trips the breaker. -It is not quite by any means. Even in sleep mode, the 55 db rating is not accurate, as i am measuring 69 db. -Rattle noise from all the Styrofoam insulation. But i fixed that by loosening the cover screws 1 half turn each. -Large 6 inch hose prevents you from being able to close the blinds all the way, if your like me having integrated window blinds. Pros: -Water drainage is no issue and very slow to accumulate, but again i am in western WA. -Great price and performance for a 10K BTU if you live in an area like me where temps are never extreme. -Cools quickly being it a 10K BTU ... show more

Very good. Relatively easy to set up, and it has been a lifesaver. Not noisy, cools the room down well and quickly. We haven’t needed the sleep mode.

The main issue I find with it is that it is LOUD! 'Sleep' mode does nothing. There is no change in noise level that I can visibly hear. You can not sleep with this unless you're a heavy sleeper. You need earplugs or to run it till the room gets to the temp you want and then shut it down for the night. Other points to note: the manual is definitely written by a non-native speaker and really doesn't make a lick of sense. It's good to go in with a basic sense of how a portable AC works, to begin with. Even so, for me, it wasn't hard to put together and set up. It was easy to figure out and the controls are straight forward. The remote, though it's very cheap, works well. I have yet to need to drain or clean it so I may update when this need arises. ... show more

    • Doesnt work as intented

Bought few months ago to give it a good test. Set up was easy and straight forward. when I set a temp on the ac unit. I set the temp to 73 degrees and the screen would say that it reached that temp. But the unit never turned off. So it would run just all day even though it reached its target temp. Also it never really got colder than 73degrees. I thought that it might be a problem with my room. So I even put weather seals on the window and covered the door jams to my room. But still got the same results. I recommend that you look for a different AC unit. ... show more

It’s came fast and was very simple to install. It’s a bit louder than I was expecting. I have about a 500sqf studio and it only cools the living area can’t quite cool the rest of the studio. On really hot days it’s nice but it has never reached below 70 even though it can be set on 62. Scored lower on value for money because I’m not sure it will be as helpful for the winter yet because it can be set on about 85 I believe ... show more

We’re in Texas and got this for an upstairs bedroom that isn’t getting much benefit from our AC. No prob downstairs, but upstairs can be overwhelmed. On a typical Texas afternoon the bedroom can run as high 90-95 with our AC running. Tried a high output evaporative cooler (humidifier) type AC last year and just didn’t do the job. Not a good combo in this high humidity environment. We read other reviews stating that the window plate was shorter than advertised and i’ll confirm that. Had to cut out a 5” piece of plasterboard to support the plate above it and fill in the remaining gap. Other than that the installation went well. The unit is loud, can’t get past that - but; since I sleep with the TV on, a little higher volume isn’t all that annoying. For us, the trick has been to go up early (around 2:00) and start it up on high. By the time we hit the bed it’s brought the temp down to a pleasant 76 or so in a 300 sq ft room. At that point our regular AC can do a fair job of battling back the offending heat. If, on the rare occasion, it starts to lose the battle a simple push of the remote button and things improve fairly rapidly. We put an infrared temp reader on the output vent and registered a respectable 52-55 degrees. If you live in a very hot-humid zone and need to cool down a 250-300 sq ft area, that won’t require a quiet office-type environment, I can strongly recommend this unit. ... show more
