Description

Monstera features solid, green foliage. The Monstera is great for large spaces. It does well in spaces that have medium, indirect light. Place Monstera in a spot that receives medium light (3-5 hours of sunlight). Water your plant about once a week with approximately 2-3 cups and be sure all excess water drains away. Adjust as needed for your environment. Do not let the Monstera sit in water or overly soggy soil. The height at dispatch is approximately 20-inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. The Monstera arrives in a black, 10-inch grower pot. To help with water drainage, this container does have holes. The Monstera is a moderate grower. Exact growth rate depends on the care provided and its environment. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for potted plants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the Monstera, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water thoroughly. This plant is considered hardy in USDA Zone 10-12. Be aware of third-party sellers; other companies try to imitate our quality. My brother ordered this monstera as a gift for our grandmother for Christmas and I thought he was nuts for buying a plant off of Amazon. I own over 70 different plants and have an entire greenhouse room in my home. I buy plants on the internet pretty frequently, but didn’t even know Amazon sold plants until he bought this. His arrived and it was beautiful and healthy and larger than expected. I immediately got on Amazon and ordered my own. My monstera arrived with black leaves. I wasn’t sure if this was something that could happen with shipping in somewhat cold temperatures because the heat pack had been long over with when it arrived or if it was root rot. I immediately wrote Costa Farms because I wasn’t even sure if I could save it, and if I could I would have to chop it down to a tiny plant and that’s not what I purchased. I waited for a few days to see if costa farms replied. They did not, so since my plant had had a few days to settle in in its new environment I decided to pull it out and take a look at the roots. It did have some root rot, nothing terrible, but I did have to get rid of most of its new growth leaving most of the older and thicker roots. I potted down a size due to the size of the root ball and unfortunately had to chop all of the large fenestrated leaves. It will be fine but it’s a tiny baby plant now and I ordered a larger monstera plant. It’s been almost two weeks and I never received a reply from Costa Farms which is upsetting. Everytime I go to the store I check to see what the Costa Farms display has and I always bring home a new plant. I won’t be doing that anymore. I would suggest buying from another retailer online. The plant came packed pretty good with 2 bamboo sticks to sturdy it. The soil was still decently moist when it arrived . I plan to repot it with an additional stalk that survived from an ailing Monsteria that I currently have. Considering how expensive that these particular plants are the promo price that I purchased it for was way worth it . The leaves were large with no damage to them other than there was a new leaf that had some damage. It’s understandable since the new leaves are pretty fragile so I can look past that . It also had an additional new leaf that was just beginning to unfurl that was still in perfect condition, so that’s a plus . The plant came shipped well, but the soil was very wet and a little dense for a tropical plant like a monstera. The pot it came in was also quite large compared to the amount of plant it came with (be careful of root rot and overwatering). It did come with a few torn leaves and one floppy leaf, but I think that is to be expected from a large grower like Costa Farms. After allowing the dirt to dry and the plant to acclimate, the plant does not seem to have any infestations, seems to be healthy, and is growing happily. ... show more

I was soooo excited I finally received this package. Delivery took a while but it arrived in great condition and well packaged. There was one leaf that didn’t make it unfortunately. The plant overall looks healthy, however, I was disappointed that it didn’t have any pink leaves. What I purchased was a “pink” princess but my plant has no pink in sight. I was so excited to see other reviewers and their plants had at least one pink leaf. I am hopeful it will eventually grow pink variegation but will have to update in a few months. I am pleased with the condition of the plant itself. It doesn’t seem to have any pests and it arrived with a cute white pot which I loved. Overall giving it a 3 because it’s not exactly was I wanted, but appreciate Costa Farms for great packaging and good quality plant. Now to hope for some pink goodness!!! Just something to bear in mind when purchasing from them. It seems to be a toss up on whether you’ll see pink or not. Update: just a few weeks passed and the bottom leaves started falling off. While this plant had a broken leaf (smallish one) the rest of the plant was far more than I had expected. It shows noticeable fenestration on even immature leaves so I imagine it will be a jaw dropper as it grows up. All the leaves appear healthy and it was well packaged. Will give it a week or two to avoid stress shock before I repot and examine the roots (will update if any concerns noted) but there are no visible signs of rot or pests. Abundant, healthy green leaves with no browning or signs of pests. After a week spent on the universe’s abuse-for-comic-relief list, I’m counting this as my one good thing for the week.
