Description

Monstera features solid, green foliage. The Monstera is great for large spaces. It does well in spaces that have medium, indirect light. Place Monstera in a spot that receives medium light (3-5 hours of sunlight). Water your plant about once a week with approximately 2-3 cups and be sure all excess water drains away. Adjust as needed for your environment. Do not let the Monstera sit in water or overly soggy soil. The height at dispatch is approximately 20-inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. The Monstera arrives in a black, 10-inch grower pot. To help with water drainage, this container does have holes. The Monstera is a moderate grower. Exact growth rate depends on the care provided and its environment. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for potted plants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the Monstera, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water thoroughly. This plant is considered hardy in USDA Zone 10-12. Be aware of third-party sellers; other companies try to imitate our quality. I’ve purchased several plants from Costa over the last few years and while they’ve all been beautiful & healthy, arriving in perfect condition, this one may be the best one yet. It’s larger than I expected, and was packed so nicely in the box. The boxes are also clearly labeled so anyone handling them knows it’s a live plant, and they have handle/carrying holes that make it so easy to move. I live in a third floor walk-up and had no problems carrying it from the lobby of my building up the stairs. My plant has several baby leaves under the more mature ones, but also came with two new baby leaves that are on the cusp of unfurling. I can’t wait to see them! The first plant was okay, but after reading so many reviews of how perfect they were I decided to send in pictures of the plant and see what they said. The breakage and brown leaves were enough for them to send me a brand new plant and it is literally perfect. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am! This plant is STUNNING! I will say, as I'm newer to Monstera's, I was told by a friend that the variated leaves (swiss cheese look) will come as the plant gets older. I've already had two new growths, and both of them were the swiss cheese look! This came from Miami all the way to Phoenix, well wrapped, and with a heat pack. PROS: The plant arrived ahead of schedule and was very well packaged so it didn’t budge and included a heat pack since the weather is cold here. The leaves are large and beautiful, and once you arrange them a bit and hold them in place with some sticks (I used the bamboo poles that they shipped with) and some plant ties it has a beautiful shape and looks lovely. I also wiped down the leaves with a damp paper towel to removed the dirt debris and dried water drop marks from shipping. And, I’ve only had it a week and it’s already growing a new leaf! CONS: Although packaged quite well, I did end up removing one of the largest leaves, that was torn in shipping. Not a big deal, and to be expected shipping from many states away. The main problem I am not too happy about is the root rot. My plant was shipped swimming in water, causing root rot, which you can see in my photo with the yellow spots with black center. So unfortunately I had to chop off that leaf as well to keep the fungus from spreading. I’m very relieved I caught it so early, otherwise I might have lost the whole plant. I repotted it immediately into fresh soil, but the poor plant was weeping out all of the excess water through its leaves for about a week. OVERALL: This plant exceeded expectations for a mail order plant! Once you do a little prep work, it is stunning. Honestly, even though there were a couple hiccups, I would definitely order again. Once it arrives, immediately take it out of its container, remove as much of the soaking wet dirt as possible, and replant it in fresh DAMP soil. Do not water until the first two inches of soil dry out. Once you do that, the plant will thrive if it’s in the right light and temperature. ... show more

The plant was packaged extremely well, with support poles, wrapping to protect soil and stabilize the plant. The box contained a heat packet, which was appreciated for safe arrival during the winter months. All leaves were healthy with no signs of pests, and many points of new growth. While it is in great shape and very beautiful (which is why I gave 3 stars) it’s not nearly as full or large as the plant pictured. I wouldn’t have paid as much as I did if I had known that. I bought the bigger monstera at a good price, I think about $20 and am very happy with it. The packaging is well done, it was in good shape aside from one stalk having previous damage (not from shipping, prior). Since receiving the plant about 7 weeks ago it has produced a new leaf and still looks very healthy.
