  • So Far --- Excellent
I bought this to replace a Kimo I bought on Amazon a few years ago. The Kimo batteries would not hold a charge any more, so I wanted something with better amperage. It's still new, but so far this AKOBR is a huge upgrade, and they had a discount coupon on the Amazon site which was great.

  • Almost cuts the cord
I've been a homeowner for 34 years now, and I've always had corded leaf blowers. The latest house we own is a cord snagging nightmare. Large property, and always at the mercy of 100+ ft extension cords - and snagging on gaps between deck boards, landscaping barriers, sprinkler heads, steps, retaining walls, you name it. This blower helps take care of the problem, but not completely. It's light, making it easy to reach into the bottom of shrubs, below the deck, or overhead to clean the eaves. It is so nice to do everything, and never get hung when moving about. The six speeds are adequate for all your blowing. If you are accustom to a "dial a speed" blower, it's a little different. When you turn on, you are at speed "1" (of 6), pressing the speed button will increase a setting at a time until you get to 6. Unfortunately, you can't take the speed down in the same fashion (1 step at a time). You must go to speed 6, click next, and the blower returns to speed 1. So if you were at 5 and wanted to go to speed 4, you have to go to speed 6, 1, 2, 3, and then get to 4. Not a huge deal, just different. I appreciate that the blower came with two, large batteries. But depending on the size of your yard, you could never really be able to get the job done with only 1. Using the blower after fully charging, I was able to get almost 15-20 minutes before it ran out (the blower was slowly losing it's top speed as well). Began a recharge of battery #1 and resumed blowing with battery #2, until it too ran out of juice. Unfortunately, two hours later, I'm still waiting for the 1st battery to again be fully charged. So what I've learned from this experience is, I'll use the battery powered blower to clean all of the difficult areas to do with a cord (around pool, garden, deck (w/ chairs) front patio area) blowing the debris to an open area. Then I will finish with the corded blower - as the open areas are where snagging is less of an issue. I should note that today was a bigger clean up than most days. So a lot of the time I won't need the corded blower at all. The snag free feature probably out weighs the shorter time of use. As being able to blow out the garage after doing some woodworking, or blow out the car interior after going to the beach - quickly and cord free is huge win for me. So in the end, it's a great blower, it just won't allow me to be cord free - just yet. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Nice little machine. Light enough that I was able to use it comfortably (I used the shoulder strap) My husband comfortably used it for quite a long time without the shoulder strap. He said it’s not as strong as his backpack or his other handheld gas blowers, obviously, but he said he was impressed by how well it did work. I used it a while it sat in the garage a couple weeks (not sure if it loses battery when not in use, which is why i mention it). Then he used it for another 45 minutes and it then went dead. Luckily it comes with a spare battery that you can have charged and ready to go. I had him test it out because I don’t have any experience with other blowers to compare it to. The leaves are wet and matted from the snow but it really blew them well out of the bushes. I’m going to use it to blow the dirt out of the garage and the grass clippings and fertilizer off the walkways. It’s going to be very nice to have a nice easy to use blower than I can just pick up and use quickly and put away. Happy with it! ... show more

  • Leaf Blower
This is a cordless leaf blower which I got to handle the oak leaves that fall 1/3 of the year in my area. This blower is capable of 540 CFM or 170mph. It has a variable trigger with speed lock, which is a nice feature. The closest thing I have to compare this to is my 18V Ryobi One blower. That blower is rated much lower at 280 CFM and 100mph, yet it is the one I've been using successfully for a couple of years. The battery on this one is 20V, and it has a 6.0Ah battery (you get two of them). Performance-wise, this outperforms the Ryobi when dealing with thick leaves, but i like that I can just squeeze the trigger on the Ryobi and use that as a dynamic variable speed control. This one goes in speeds 1 thru 6 in 1 speed increments. That's annoying. This blower is very light and comes with a fast charger. It won't last long on full power, which is what I typically use with leaves, so expect < 30 minutes of runtime, which is typical of battery powered blowers. Is it better than gas or electric? Better than electric in the sense that there's no bulky cord to tug around. Better than gas in the sense that you don't need to fuel it, smell it or pollute the vicinity. I cut the cord long ago with my mower, blower, weed trimmer and edger. I'm so happy I did. Life is so much easier with a cordless device, even if you have to make some small sacrifices. Overall, this blower is a good choice if you have small tasks, like keeping a driveway clean or blowing your neighbor's leaves back to their yard after they blow all theirs in yours. On that note, it's also good to corral leaves so you can rake them up once and for all. ... show more

  • As shown
Nice big batteries, and two besides. Plenty loud, but the pitch is a bit lower than my other blower, so perhaps some advantage there. The opening is wider, so the air is not as concentrated as I'm used to, so I'm not sure if this moves as much wind or not. I think it is spread out more, so has less force. I don't really see any advantage to the 6 speeds-2 or 3 would be plenty. Easy enough to click through them, but seems unnecessary, especially since I can't really think of why I would want anything but the highest speed. It doesn't even remember the last used setting-it always starts at #1-so you have to click up through, even if you only turn it off for a second to reposition it and continue on. The on/off push button works nicely, compared to the stiff slider on my other one. The manual is especially useless, covered with cautions, and very little usage information. No mention of assembly, and the battery charger is totally different from the one shown in the manual. Good enough. Compare on price and probably battery size/performance. ... show more
