I never thought I’d be the type to carry a sewing machine in my tote bag, but here we are. This little gadget is the definition of compact but doesn’t skimp when it’s time to put in work. I used it to fix a busted hem on my daughter’s uniform skirt while she was already wearing it—no joke. It zipped right through the seam like it was gliding, and she didn’t even have to change. It’s got two speed modes, which I didn’t think I’d need until I tried patching a denim tote on the low setting and then switching up to the high-speed mode for some curtain work. Whether I had it plugged in with USB or running on batteries, the thing didn’t choke or skip. You can really feel the upgraded motor when it kicks in—smooth and way quieter than I expected for something handheld. The full kit came ready to roll: thread, scissors, bobbins, even tweezers and a test fabric piece. That made it less intimidating, especially for my niece who wanted to try sewing her own scrunchies. The curved handle made it super easy for her small hands to control, and she was grinning the whole time like she was running a factory. We didn’t even have to read the full manual—everything was intuitive enough to just dive in. It works well on heavier fabric too. I used it on a canvas bag that had ripped at the bottom, and it didn’t stutter once. That thick needle did its job without bending or getting stuck, which I’ve had happen with other minis. And the fact that I could tuck it back into its case and slide it into my glovebox? That just sealed the deal for how useful this thing’s been on the fly.
