This electric hand planer is the first one I've ever used so take my review with a grain of salt. I found this really easy to use as a beginner with wood working. After installing a standard 3 1/4" blade and setting depth, I got to planing. Results were good and quick. Noise wasn't too loud. The depth adjustment was easy to set and didn't feel like the knob was going to fall apart. Overall I'm very pleased with this product. Hard to beat at this price point.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with a cordless hand planer, but this thing seriously exceeded my expectations. Right out of the box, it felt solid and well-balanced—not overly heavy, but not cheap feeling either. Once I popped in the battery and gave it a go, I was impressed with how smooth and controlled the cuts were. The brushless motor definitely delivers. I’ve been using it on everything from reclaimed boards to fresh pine, and it hasn’t bogged down once. What really stood out to me is how easy it is to maneuver without having to fight a cord the whole time. That freedom alone has made my workflow faster and just a lot more pleasant. The 3-1/4" width is ideal for most of what I do, and the depth adjustment is surprisingly precise. I expected some trial-and-error, but it was easy to dial in exactly how much I wanted to take off. The dust bag actually works better than I thought it would. It doesn’t catch everything (none of them do), but it does keep most of the shavings contained. I usually work outdoors or in a garage, so cleanup has been minimal. And the edge guide? Super handy when I needed to chamfer or get a more controlled cut along edges. That little extra made a big difference when cleaning up rough joints on some barn wood I was resurfacing. Battery life has held up nicely too. I got through an afternoon of on-and-off use with power to spare. I like that it came with a 4.0Ah battery instead of one of the smaller ones—I didn’t feel like I had to baby the power usage or keep checking how much juice was left. Overall, this has become a favorite addition to my tool lineup. It handles better than I expected for something cordless, and it’s powerful enough for the work I do without wearing me out. Definitely glad I gave it a shot.

The 3.25” Cutting Width 20 Volt Cordless Hand Planner (ASIN: B0DXKWWMX5) came with a dust bag, edge guide, hex key, single battery, charger, and user manual. Unfortunately, the kit does not include a storage box or case, and nothing to aid in keeping up with the parts. Note that the very sharp blades were not well aligned when received. I had to raise them significantly to reach the zero mark and then to adjust to level with the base. While not mentioned in the User Manual, this is where the supplied hex key is to be used. Once adjusted, the unit cuts clean, concise, and flat. The depth adjustment knob has hash marks and 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 noted. However, there are no units of measurement noted, nor are units mentioned in the User Guide. The User Guide instructs the user to mark and measure a test piece of wood, make a cutting pass, and then remeasure to determine the difference, aka how much was cut off. Other brands I have used tell you how much will be removed based on the information marked on the adjustment knob. Chamfer guide works well. I could not get the edge fence to mount parallel with the front shoe. The design issue always left it cockeyed (see photo). The edge fence does have holes that would allow one to add a longer addition to it, but being cockeyed it may actually make it more difficult to use. The dust bag for catching sawdust and shavings clogged with every pass, so to use it I had to take it off after each pass and remove the clog at the transition between the planner and the bag (see photo). One should plan on not using the bag and shoot the sawdust and clippings across the floor or adding a vacuum attachment. The hand planner only came with one battery, so it is good to monitor the charge during use. While a bit difficult to access while mounted on the hand planner, one can just push the button on the battery to view the battery strength indicator lights (see photo). This can be an effective planner for occasional use if one can accept and work around the several shortcomings.
