Got this as a second angle grinder so I could have one grinder and one cutting wheel installed and not have to constantly switch between them. Everything about this performs well, power-wise. It cuts and grinds great, works with my makita batteries with no issue, and holds wheels just fine. The only annoyance I have is that my other battery grinder's base is level such that I can put it down and it will stand up, whereas this one opts to hold the battery at a 45 degree angle so there is no stable way to put it down. You're either resting it on the wheel+battery or upside down. Minor, but worth considering.

I know nothing about grinders. But we have a rusty spot on our porch railing that's getting worse and worse, so I got this so we could grind it down without spending a fortune, and using the batteries we already own. This did the job great! Ground the rust off and down to a workable surface in just a couple of minutes. Seems like it had plenty of power, though admittedly, this was a light job. No complaints here!

Bought this product thinking it was gonna be great because it took my Milwaukee batteries which are very expensive. First use fried my Milwaukee batteries chip will not work in any Milwaukee products now.

I do worry about angle grinders doing a sudden jump and being dangerous. But sometimes there are jobs that only an angle grinder can do. Since I had the right batteries, I decided to try this one and it performed precisely as needed. I built a wooden mailbox many years ago that began leaking and it would be a major task to remove it from the mailbox box stand. So I drew lines and cut 3" off the back end with this angle grinder. I got a nice clean cut, then installed, caulked, and stained a brand new back side. No more wet mail! My angle grinder was corded so I suspect that now having a battery powered one I will use it much more often.

It's certainly no genuine Milwaukee grinder however for light jobs this tool will serve you well. I had to grind the rust off of a few parts we were welding and this did the trick very nicely. While this will not replace our old trusty, and much more powerful, corded grinder, it will be a welcome addition to our tool shed. The media could not be loaded. This is a well made cordless angle grinder. To start. My practice is to open up the gear case on a new tool to check how much grease is in it - as the picture shows, there wasn't much grease in it so it needed about an ounce of grease added. The extra grease quietened the gear noise such that it wasn't any noisier than a Milwaukee grinder. The gear case is cast aluminum and well machined. The motor housing is plastic and sturdy. The motor switch will operate both momentary and maintained run. The grinder accepts Milwaukee batteries with no issue. The grinder starts in high speed and can be changed to the two lower speeds only while running. Grinder power is plenty for any 4 1/2 wheel I used. I attached a video of the grinder using a flap wheel - I couldn't fault anything about the operation of the grinder as it works equally as well as my Bosch 120v grinder. About the only things I could find different from the Milwaukee 2880-2 and this grinder was the speed of the grinder is controlled by the grinder and not the Milwaukee battery controls, the red color of the plastic is different, and it didn't say Milwaukee on the side. Is it worth spending more than twice as much for the Milwaukee? Not in my opinion. Update: I'm finding that I pick up this cordless angle grinder rather than my corded grinder on a regular basis. No extension cord to deal with, just as much power as the corded grinder, and easier to move to the position I need when grinding. The only regret is that I didn't get this grinder a long time ago.

I was about to write a pitiful review after trying this grinder with some generic no-name M18 batteris that I got on Amazon. However, I gave it a try with my genuine original milwaukee 5.0XC battery and it made a world of difference. So instead I dumped on the battery review and can now say this grinder works great! It's very basic in operation. The chuck still requires a spanner wrench (included). The dust shield requires a screwdriver to loosen and pivot/adjust. But with a genuine milwaukee battery installed it had no trouble keeping a flap disc turning while grinding into my workbench. With the cheap replacement batteries it stalled out and died as soon as I touched the bench. It also has a button to change between three different speed settings. I can't say I've ever needed to slow down a grinder, but maybe there is a case for it such as body work to reduce the amount of heat. Overall a solid option. It's nice to have a few grinders on hand and keep each loaded with a different style disc, so this is a good way to add to the fleet at a more affordable price.
