  • Excellent tool!
I usually don't write reviews but in this case this product deserves one. I really wasn't expecting much seeing as how the Makita cost three times as much but I was very surprised. The tool is heavy, which means it is made out of some good stuff. It is very well built and seems to be very durable. Plenty of power as well with 15000 RPMs. Couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

  • Solid planer for the money
It's got plenty of power and cuts wood well. It's not lightweight but not overly heavy either - it's a solid tool. To turn it on, you have to push down on a safety button, then pull the trigger. When the adjusting knob is turned all the way counter-clockwise, the blade site within the tool and won't cut anything, nor damage the surface that it's placed upon. It's got a small foot on the back, so when it's placed down, the back of the planer is up and off of the surface. When planing, the foot will retract and allow the planer to cut the wood. The back of the planer is stationary, but the front moves up and down as the adjusting knob is turned. That's how you determine the depth of the cut. It's got a dust bag, with a plastic collar that I believe is supposed to fit onto the output port of the tool, but it doesn't fit. It's the same size as the port, so the collar won't fit either inside or outside of the exhaust port. I put the collar back in the box, and then I was able to attach the dust bag. It's not too loud. ... show more

  • Customer Service is Garbage
Just purchased this and it had no user manual. Contacted Woodstarter direct to see if they would send a PDF copy and they act like I’m trying to break into Fort Knox and will not send a manual, Contacted support on Amazon and they sent me a link to a Makita planer. Customer service is garbage, don’t buy anything from Woodstarter. I’ll never know if it is a good product because I will be returning ASAP. ... show more

  • Great planer
Really impressed with this planer. Had never heard of the company, but took a chance. Glad I did. Quality is on par with Bosch. Runs smooth. Everything was adjust correctly from factory.

  • Really impressed
This is a nice motorized power hand plane which has some weight to it, but is still sized well enough to easily manipulate. It says the base is aluminum, but it still feels very solid. Given this is a corded planer, you have the power when you need it and don't need to worry about your battery running low on long jobs. The adjustment know to set the depth of cut is east to change but gives a nice firm click as you more to each graduation. The dust bag can be attached to either side of the planer by switching the cap for the dust port from one side to the other. You can also attach a collection hose if you have the right sized fitting. The blades are easy to access and remove so when the time comes to sharpen or replace them, it will be an easy process. The chamfering grooves are a nice little feature that I hadn't used on power planes in the past. They work pretty well, but you need to take care how many passes you take depending on the chamfer size you are going for. All in all, I'm really impressed with this brand and am looking forward to more high quality budget products from them. ... show more

  • It works pretty good for now.
Detailed Review of the Corded Electric Hand Planer, 7.7 AMP 15000 RPM When it comes to woodworking, having the right tools can make a significant difference in both performance and the overall quality of your projects. With that in mind, I recently had the opportunity to work with a Corded Electric Hand Planer featuring a powerful 7.7 AMP motor and a 15000 RPM speed. Here’s my detailed review based on various aspects of use, paired with some personal impressions on its performance. Performance and Power First and foremost, the power of this hand planer is impressive for its class. The 7.7 AMP brushless motor provides a consistent supply of energy, which is essential for handling challenging wood surfaces. At 15,000 RPM, it offers superior cutting performance, making quick work of planing tasks. I found that it handled hardwoods and softer woods alike without stalling, which is a significant plus for anyone looking to achieve a smooth finish quickly. Versatile Planing Design The versatility of the planing width at 3-1/4 inches is quite appropriate for a variety of projects. With three chamfering grooves and a 1-inch rabbeting capability, I easily maneuvered the tool to achieve precise edges when needed. This feature is especially beneficial for DIY woodworking and home carpentry projects as it accommodates multiple types of cuts. Precision Cutting with Depth Settings One of the standout features of this planer is its 20 adjustable depth settings. The maximum depth of cut up to 5/32 inches allowed me to make very fine adjustments, which is crucial for edge trimming and achieving a professional look. Whether I was performing fine detailing or larger planing tasks, the flexibility in depth settings proved advantageous in achieving the desired results. Dust Management System Working with wood can be a messy endeavor, and this hand planer addresses that with its integrated dust bag. It effectively collects wood shavings and sawdust, significantly minimizing post-project cleanup. It was gratifying to see my workspace remain relatively clean, allowing me to focus on my work rather than a messy cleanup afterward. Comfort and Ergonomics The ergonomic design of the handle is incredibly comfortable, which is essential for prolonged usage. The shock-absorbing system reduces vibrations, ensuring minimal fatigue during extended projects. As someone who enjoys spending hours woodworking, this comfort feature made a noticeable difference in my overall experience. Build Quality and Longevity While I mentioned this hand planer is not a high-end tool like a Makita, it holds its ground admirably within its price bracket. Given my prior experience with a 25-year-old Makita, it will be interesting to see how long this model lasts. I feel optimistic that with proper care, it could last at least half that time or more. However, only time will truly tell. Conclusion In summary, the Corded Electric Hand Planer is an excellent choice for both DIY enthusiasts and beginner woodworkers. It marries powerful performance with ease of use, precision cutting capabilities, and an effective dust management system, all while maintaining comfort during operation. It may not be the most premium option on the market, but it offers fantastic value for the price and meets the practical needs of any woodworking project. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars, reflecting its solid performance and functionality, with the caveat of wanting to assess its long-term durability. If you are looking for a reliable planing tool, this hand planer is worth considering. ... show more
