The blanket is made of a thinner material but its still heavy weight just from the sheer size of it. I'm fairly picky with the linens I use on my bed, and was skeptical about ordering this blanket from Amazon. However the blankets offered for sale at the big name vendors like L. L. Bean and Lands End were twice as expensive and even smaller than the ones I purchased from them several years ago. I wanted a blanket that was long enough to tuck under at the foot of the bed and stay there. That's why I ordered the 120" X 120" size in this blanket. It is extremely soft, warmer than my other fleece blankets, plenty long enough to stay tucked under at the foot and has a luxurious feel. I was so tired of being outside the covers on my king size bed! Well this blanket absolutely solved the problem. It touches the floor on both sides and the bottom. It is warm and comfy! I highly recommend this blanket. It's not light weight which was one of the star categories. Not sure why.
