Needed to replace our 14-year old unit and this unit was recommended. I’ve never made this large of an online purchase but felt it was safe ordering through Amazon. We had a friend install the unit. As it was a standard size, it was easy to install—pull out the old and push in the new (our previous sleeve and grille fit, so we didn’t need to purchase them). The unit is very quiet and I love the digital capabilities—our old unit had dials for the settings. My only gripe was the delivery. I was told (in the “checkout” process) that the Amazon driver would contact us to make delivery arrangements, since this was a large item; however, they didn’t. We woke up one morning and it was on our porch (sometime before 7am), on its side—a heat pump unit should never be laid on its side, and we didn’t know any better, so we brought it in, like it was delivered. Unit seems to work okay. The box looked like it bounced around on a freighter going through a hurricane and then delivered to a cargo truck that made it through a tornado and then finally got "dropped" off at my house. The condenser deflectors were mangled and the front cover is cracked on both top corners. The price was good so I hope it lasts and if it does not then I hope the warranty department is good. ... show more

This was a very tight fit in my existing box. I had to bend up the top edge of my LG box to make it fit. Once I did that, it went in nicely. I had a worried moment when I hit the on button and nothing happened. Then I remembered that it has a reset button on the plug. It also has a fast heat feature where it will use the heating coiils to warm the room faster if the temperature is 8 degrees below what you set it at. Very nice. ... show more

We had a 12 year old PTAC in our apartment, so I wanted to upgrade before it died completely. After researching the available units, I settled on this Copper Hunter. I liked the idea it was also a Heat Pump and not just heat strips. Because I already the sleeve in the wall, just slid out the old, slid in the new (perfect fit) and BAM, I was upgraded. We had that super cold snap in December and wind chills were near -30 degrees. (we are near 700 square feet of area) We stayed super toasty! It has a digital temperature setting that is easy to read and change. The only thing that keeps me from 10 Stars is it doesn't keep an even temp. We can set it on 70 degrees, and it may get 75 or higher in our room, but if we lower it even 1 degree then the room cools way down. But easy to change, so no big, I guess. Oh, much quieter than our previous unit. Energy efficiency, time will tell... UPDATE. After a few months of winter, I am not as pleased as originally. When it gets into the low 30's and 20's it still keeps us plenty warm. But at times it gets very noisy. It may be the defrost cycle. It has trouble maintaining an even temperature in our apartment. I can set it at 68 for the night and it may get up to 75 in small apartment. I turn I down 1 degree and it now gets below 70. If it's warmer outside say in the 40's I have to bump the temp up over 70 to keep it warm. I realize it matters if the heat strips have to come on, but at times when it's cold I sounds like it is going to come apart. Warmer weather is coming, just hope the cooling setting works better. ... show more

I bought 2 of these cooper and hunter 12000 btu ac with heat pump, one is in a 12x24 room works great the other is in a 16x24 room it's a piece of junk so loud it wakes me up every time it kicks in when ac comes on also have to turn it down to 72 degrees to cool the room then sometimes doesn't cool at all called amazon for free return they referred me to trouble shooting didnt help the problem on the positive side the heat Pump works great but i live in texas its hot the free return and warranty is no good stuck with it affecting my sleep its so loud wish i had went with Amana instead, i like amazon but was no help on this expensive product, I would suggest going with Amana ... show more
