He sleeps on his side and back and had no problems with the mattress. He has a long bed and this fit good to it. No bad smells and the thickness was true to what he ordered. The only thing I wish it had was : be flippable, have straps to maneuver, and grommets on the side for better air circulation like the old mattresses used to have. I bought the TWIN XL 12" for my elderly husband who has been in and out of hospitals and physical rehab centers for the last year. He LOVES it and says it the most comfortable mattress he's ever had. It certainly is better than the mattresses at those medical places he's been. I will add myself that it is very comfortable. It's a MEDIUM FIRM mattress and provides support for your body, while the plush topper gives you a softness for comfort. It really is a surprise quality find. It arrived rolled up and compressed in a reasonably small box. It is then wrapped in heavy duty plastic that vacuumed sealed it. We carefully cut that off and it immediately started growing to its true size. We let it sit out for a day before using it. The metal bar at the footbed is to keep it from sliding off the frame. I would buy again. I also bought an adjustable bed frame. I highly suggest getting one of those too. I love this mattress. Ordered yesterday evening and arrived next day in the morning. Delivery man was great carried it into my garage with a smile. Long narrow box. It was heavy but I were alone I think I could have managed dragging it into the house alone due to the way the mattress was packaged. I was impressed the way it was rolled up and sooo easy to unravel. I even received a cutting tool for the plastic and as soon as it was punctured the mattress began to inflate. There was no odor whatsoever and it looks great and seems to be good quality for the price. The pillow top is soft yet firm enough to give support. I have no regrets purchasing this.
