I have a big beard, pushing a foot long. I needed something to trim up and even out. I removed the guard and I don't use the little trimmer attachment. I didn't want a cord or rechargeable as I have no outlets in my bathroom (very old house) and I didn't want to set up a charging station in another room for it. Also, I don't like rechargeable devices as they can leave you stuck with half the job done waiting for the recharge and the batteries decline over time. I do use rechargeable batteries and this runs fine on them. It's light and easy to operate. It does feel a little cheap, I don't know that it survives a drop. The battery door seems to come off easily and unclicks in my hand while operating sometimes. Seems to be a great size for travel too.

Perfect basic trimmer. So in the first picture you'll see three trimmers. The one to the left is the one that I recently had to replace. I'd say it was probably around seven years old. So I went out and bought another cheap trimmer I figured Wahl must make good stuff right? The one in the middle is the Wahl trimmer that I got to replace my original Conair. OMFG what a terrible POS! The sliding adapter that comes with it is large bulky and very difficult to adjust. But the worst thing is that it sounds like a chainsaw. It should be labeled Stihl. I say all that because I hadn't realized over the years how nice this Conair is. The adjuster is easy to move normally I just slide it all the way down or take it off completely, but being able to easily put the adjuster on and off is a real treat after having to use the Wahl. And it's pretty quiet, another feature I hadn't realized. You can use this thing like you would expect. If you start the Wahl up in the morning you're going to wake people up. I'm not kidding, if I didn't know better I would think it was a two-stroke.

I like the size but it is not as easy to use as I had hoped. The power seems to drag if the hair is too thick, it slows, not terribly easy to get a close trim. It works fine, just a little disappointed, not able to get the trim I was hoping for.

I've been using a version of this trimmer, about 20 years now. (I've replaced it 3 times now from either losing it, or the blades finally dull after years of use) This new version is mostly unchanged from what I can tell, except a bit quieter. It's still sharp, powerful and easy and light. However, and the bummer, is that the trim guard/settings are much longer. Now at it's shortest setting, your hairs have to be pretty long in order to cut. Guesstimating that the new short setting is pretty similar to the old models at a 2 or 3 setting. If you take the guard off, it still cuts pretty close, which is nice.

i liked that it uses disposable batteries. easy to swap when needed. when i buy a trimmer i always buy ones that use disposable batteries. i have been using beard trimmers like this for 15 years. this is the worst one ive ever had. because of the fact it pinches/pulls the hairs. every time i use it i have to put up with the pain of hairs getting pulled and pinched. no other trimmer has ever given me this much trouble with this. i have tried oiling the blades. and i have tried taking it apart and reassembling it, the problem persists. after a few months of infrequent use the motor burnt out and stopped working entirely. other brands usually last me many years before needing to be replaced.

I had a similar device that somehow became lost and this is the perfect replacement. The price is right and it feels well made, works great. The Only downside is that the nose hair trimmer is a bit tricky to put on. You have to remove the blade but they really do not say how to do it.... Push on the plastic and pull it out with your fingers. Putting it back in is tricky but once you figure it out... Your good.

it works fairly well, and it was really cheap, but it is really flimsy plastic junk. Battery cover barely stays on. Spend $10 more and get something decent. Finally returned it, just does not really cut heavy beard hair cleanly.
