The description states "This food dryer is suitable for a variety of homemade foods like mushrooms and turkey—as well as snacks like banana chips, fruit roll-ups, and beef jerky." However the manual that comes with the device gives no directions for meat jerky, only for fruits and vegetables. This is likely due to the fact that the max temp on this device is 158F while meats like beef and chicken need to be heated to at least 165F to kill any potential bugs. The description does mention "beef jerky" but the lack of directions for making meat jerky indicates they don't want to be liable if there is an incident due to undercooked meats. I find this a little sneaky. I have made beef jerky in it and after drying in the dehydrator put the meat in a convection oven at 175F for an hour to kill any nasties. I have also tried meat dried in the machine but not placed in the oven and it tasted the same, good, and I didn't get sick, but that may not always be the case. The device works very well, but there is a caveat that if you do get sick from eating undercooked meat jerky they probably cannot be held responsible as they don't provide directions for drying meats. You can take the chance, as I did, or you can take steps, as I also did, to provide a temp of at least 165F when making meat jerky.

I purchased this for one reason. To dry my scorpion peppers from the garden. Worked perfectly. Will now be using it for other things. Easy to use and clean. Temperature control is a bonus. Minimal noise. Highly recommend.

I've had this dehydrator for over two years now. It is still working great! Sometimes I'll use it 4 or 5 times in a month. Sometimes I'll go a few months without using it. But every time I do use it, it works very well. Temperature seems consistent. Everything has come out cracker dry, exactly how I want it. Love this dehydrator! Thanks!

Pro: This is compact Con: Won't reach temp without blocking most top lid holes; Temp control isn't accurate. This works by sending air up the center hole to the top lid - and then sucks it down and in through the plates. The problem is the lid has far too many holes and too much hot air escapes. The hottest it generally gets on max is 135-140F. And that is empty Covering all but one hole it will get to 167 in one test. The temp control may be high or low - so if you care - then use an accurate temp probe to test. I modified by covering most of each hole with kapton take (a high heat hobby tape). Pro: The power as measured with an accurate meter is 267 watts consistently. Essentially their 280 rating. Con: The platter holes are particularly large - too large for ground or cut herbs. Suggestion: These https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0876LPGL have a perfect sized center hole. I sharpie scribe the outer profile (using a platter) and cut it out. These tuck into the corners and are nice and flexible. Summary: Good only if you really need a compact dehumidifer - and then you'll spend $12 on sheets and need to plug top holes.
