    • I'm not impressed at all...
I have tried everything and the laser doesn't work. It's easy to assemble and connects pretty easily but the laser doesn't work at all.

    • Surprisingly good for such an inexpensive unit
This laser engraver has been a very pleasant surprise. Considering how inexpensive it was, my expectations were quite low. However, this thing works exactly as advertised and has done everything I wanted it to do. I use it to make signs, and it gets the job done. Since I find it easier to be shown how to do something rather than to read how to do something, I watched a YouTube video about how to assemble it, rather than using the printed instructions. This turned out to be a little bit of a mistake. In retrospect, what I should have done was to do a read-through of the printed instructions first, then use the YouTube video to guide me as I went along. I was really excited to get this laser but unfortunately it just didn't perform as I was hoping. The initial impression of the quality was fairly solid, being that the pieces are made from metal and the overall construction is well put together. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, the instructions are sub par and don't explain how the pieces go together very well. I had to base everything off the pictures and there were a few spots where I had to make an educated guess as to where different wires connected (although that seemed obvious enough given their placement.) After about two hours on the assembly I got to the software portion. For Mac, you have to download a software that has another investment for it to work. There's a free trial, which I signed up for. Another three hours and I could not get it to work. As you can see in the screenshot, the software will not detect the laser and the connection light kept blinking, indicating that there was no connection. This was incredibly frustrating. I'm very tech savvy and tend to figure these sorts of things out pretty easily. I checked all the cables and connections, tried rebooting the machine and my laptop, installed updated drivers, reinstalled them... nothing worked. I've been doing machine work with metal for over a decade and have dealt with some fairly complicated machinery. Thinking I must be missing something, I researched YouTube videos trying to find a solution. Again, nothing worked. The customer service is in China. I decided to return the product as this is way too much hassle to figure out such a small piece of equipment. I was expecting something plug and play with a little technical configuration but this was on a different level. I followed all the instructions to the letter and tried dozens of different 'solutions' I found online that ultimately failed. It works well beyond what I was expecting, it comes with some small sample tile pieces of wood to mess around with for practice. It can take a bit of time getting it assembled out of box if your not used to building things like small furniture pieces like desk or something you can buy and assemble. The directions are a little poor and misinformative for which way pieces face. If you get the right software to use with it, it is a blast to engrave on all types of mediums. Some mediums like glass and metal take some extra steps like paint them or coloring them to get a engraving on them because it's only about a 5 watt engraver. The only downside is trying to get it focused with the manual slider adjuster. For that reason I can't give it 5 stars because trying to get that just right manually is really difficult and somewhat frustrating. Other than that, I recommend this engraver for entry level and novice people wanting to have fun making memorable projects. ... show more

Great instructions on how to assemble the engraver! Really straight forward and quick assembly which led to a quick first print using the recommended LaserGBL software. Excited to begin fine tuning and experimenting with different materials. Really appreciated the wood pieces that came with it so I could do a test engraving as soon as it was assembled. ... show more

    • Great beginner laser engraver
This is my first laser engraver. I bought it to compliment my woodturning to put my logo on the bottom of each bowl I make. This laser engraver does that perfectly. I'm using the basic software, which takes time to get used, but not too bad. I'm able to produce a perfect logo everytime. I love how the software will show an outline of the area before engraving. ... show more
