There is a lot to like about this heater. It provides localized heat, has multiple safety features, and has a semi-oscillating feature. Here is the main issue. The motor rotation is, of course, at the base of the heater by design. However, due to how this motor connects to the floor stand, the entire system feels slightly flimsy. It won't fall over, but I was able to wobble it with a slight touch. This does come with a tip-over switch, so I think it serves its purpose. However, it feels a bit cheap because of this issue. As for heat, though, this system does the job . I put this in my garage during the winter, and it heated a portion of the garage (at max temperature). It doesn’t have a strong fan to blow the heat to quickly spread the warmth, but over time it does heat up the area. There are settings to increase and decrease the temperature to your liking (honestly, a requirement for any space heater). I appreciate the timer function - I have peace of mind that at least it will not stay on indefinitely should I accidentally leave the system on. This is a decent heater for the price. I wish it were slightly sturdier, but it does what it sets out to do. I reviewed the 23" product. If I were to purchase it again, I think I might spring for the 30" one. ... show more

...but they're often not all that different, either. Electric heaters are more differentiated than paper clips, say, and less differentiated than cars. The job of an electric heater is to take that wonderful servant called electricity, that can power complex electromechanical devices and electronics, and essentially burn it. I understand though that while it might be nice if we lived by a data center which powered rack upon rack of data processors and sold us their waste heat at a discount, this arrangement may not always be available, and so we occasionally have to take the stuff out of the wall and go straight to burning it, skipping the data center. I digress. This heater embodies some nice features, and some features that I might have preferred to be otherwise. On the plus side the appliance is stable (for a tower)—seemingly weighted, for I can't think of any necessary component that would require that mass—and it's relatively quiet, not whisper quiet, but not anything that should disturb even the most fastidious sleepers or readers. It oscillates, which seems to help spread the heat around or at least give you the feeling that it's spreading the heat around, and it comes with a simple, standard remote control. One of the best design choices in my book is the positioning of the digital display, neither vertical nor horizontal, but splitting the difference (weighted more towards the horizontal), which should allow you to read it standing anywhere near the heater or from a range of nearby seated positions: overall the unit has a thoughtfully designed form, well-adapted to a small, floor-standing tower heater. OK, here's what I don't like about it: Both the legend for the controls and the brand name are printed on the surface of the plastic, which is not a durable long term solution and does not look very sharp to start with. Secondly, displaying the setpoint temperature is nice, but it would also help to alternate this information with a display of the inlet air temperature, allowing you to gauge if you are getting close to your goal and whether you might have set the temperature lower and still be comfortable. It's tempting to set the target temperature high when we're cold, giving us the feeling we are going to get there faster, but the only decision point actually affecting how fast we reach a given temperature is the choice of low power or high power. If you set the temperature 10 degrees higher than needed you may find that you've wasted energy to make the room too warm without reaching a comfortable temperature any faster. Finally—this is a pet peeve—if you reach the setpoint the control circuit first switches off the heating element then after a short cool-down period switches off the fan too. Fans use a trivial amount of power when compared to the heating element, and even that trivial amount of power is not wasted, because it too serves to (trivially) heat the room after it's done turning the fan. So the only economic or even ecological benefit you receive from shutting down the fan when room temperature has reached its target is avoiding a tiny bit of wear on the (extremely durable) fan bearings. Turning off the fan between heating cycles is a feel-good feature achieving nothing, and possibly disturbing your sleep or concentration. Overall value is OK for the shorter, 23" model though. Literally all you get for a 75% price increase for the 30" model is 7" more plastic tower and an extra 30 degrees of arc of oscillation (90 versus 60)! If I wanted to pay almost double the money I'd look for something with less plastic-y aesthetics, but in return for saving almost half the price I'm OK with the looks and minor quirks of the shorter heater. Its angled display may even be easier to read, so this is win/win—better product at a lower cost. Value counts. ... show more

I was excited to try the Comfort Zone Space Heater, as the features sounded perfect for my needs—compact, with a remote control for convenience. Unfortunately, my experience with this heater has been far from ideal. The biggest issue is how loud it is when it runs. Even at the lowest setting, the fan noise is so distracting that it’s hard to focus on anything else in the room. It’s particularly frustrating when trying to relax, watch TV, or have a conversation. I’ve owned other space heaters that were much quieter, so this was a big disappointment. To make matters worse, the heater shuts down constantly, even when the room is still cold. I’ve checked to ensure it’s not overheating or obstructed, but it continues to turn off unpredictably. This makes it unreliable for keeping a consistent level of warmth, which is the whole reason I bought it. I find myself having to get up and turn it back on repeatedly, which is inconvenient and frustrating. While the design and remote control are nice in theory, these features don’t make up for the noise and performance issues. Unfortunately, this heater just isn’t worth the hassle. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for something dependable or quiet. ... show more

This electric heater offers many functions and can be controlled by the panel on the heater or by the remote! It is 23 inch, decent size but not too bulky and does not occupy so much space. As far as the heating function goes, it heats up pretty fast. It has 2 voltage settings to adjust the heating level. The fan blows the hot air out but it is not to strong air flow. The noise level is minimal and provides comfort through out the night. With the remote, it is very easy to operate. ... show more
