What I liked about this, is that it has both massaging for neck and back. My little one I had that broke, you picked one or the other. So when I saw this one and it could do both, and it had heat you could turn off and on, and it had vibration for your rear, I knew it was the one I wanted to try. Of course it cost a lot more than the little ones for one area, but if you are getting old and worn out like me after a day's work and would rather get the massage than changing and going to the club, this may be for you. When I clicked on it to read the description, I saw that there was another one with an additional compression feature. Now I have owned a massage chair that does what this massager does, and it included compression on arms, legs and feet and I loved it. But it was so big and took up so much space, I gave it to one of my kids. But, I also learned the benefits and comfort of compression that made me eager to spend even more for the compression features. When the massager was dropped off by Amazon, my grandson said What in the world did you buy now, Grammy?! It came in this huge box. I told him it was just a back massager. He hauled it in for me and opened the box to find another box. He opened that box to find a third box, which the massager was in. So you get a well packaged massager. Once it was out, I realized it was bigger than I had expected, and a lot heavier too. But there is nothing you have to put together, just plug it in. So my grandson laid it on the floor, plugged it in, and laid down on it while I went off and did some housework. 20 minutes later, he came up to me and asked what I paid for it. I told him and he said 'I would have paid a $1,000 for it' WOW Using the massager now, it feels just as good as my massage chair (minus my foot massage I miss). I can even put it on my bed and use it while watching TV. So, if you are already going to pay this much for a back massager, I urge you to spend the extra $30 and get the one with compression. I've used a couple other massagers previously, and my experience was generally positive. Bought this one as this had a full upper body capability as opposed to the smaller ones I currently have. My comparison point for this product is a massage by a human with some leeway for reasonableness given this is a machine. The first thing to notice is that this is reasonably heavy, and seems very sturdy. This is a 5 in ease to use despite the remote control that may seem initially daunting. The vibration modes are effective and provide a surprisingly deep massage, which can be "controlled" by how much weight you put on the unit. It helps quite a bit with my back and shoulders which are trouble spots. I would rate it a 4.5 on those elements compared to a real human, and easily a 5 overall. Another thing that is effective is the heat control that helps in loosening muscles. I highly recommend this for most people- the ease of use and ability to get some relief at a moment's notice is invaluable. PS: My son used it as well. If the person using it is short, you need to sit on a cushion to align properly. This worked well for him as well. ... show more

I don’t use the vibration or heat so I cannot comment. I got this so I could recline on it as my shoulder one doesn’t. This give pretty good rolling massage to my upper back and lower shoulders depending on how you maneuver yourself. The lower back gives a very light massage as it doesn’t quite lay against your lower back. If it were curved in more it would hopefully provide a deeper massage. This is an excellent massager. I like being able to adjust the intensity and I especially like the compression in the sides and bottom. The description says the neck massager is height adjustable and it is not. I cannnot use all features together because of this. I must manipulate my body by adding a high pillow to sit on. Wife had her pillow set between her and the message. I tried it without her pillow and it was all I could take when it got to the upper back, so I suggest using a pillow at first and then if you feel like going without it you can.
