I wanted at least a .25 inch cable for pulling small trees and bushes. A smaller cable is capable of doing most of what I need, but a smaller cable will stretch, and if it breaks, can snap back at you. A larger cable doesn't stretch as much and is more difficult to break. This is a quality come-a-long for a great price.

I made a mistake. I did not try it out until it was past the return deadline otherwise I would have sent it back. This really is a frustrating piece of junk. There is no way to hold either lever open so you can pull the cable out quickly. It did work for my light weight application but I could only pull the cable out by clamping a vice grip on the lever to hold it open and operating the other with my free hand. Save your self the frustration and possible injury by spending another $20 or so to get a better one.

I used this winch to pull a 1975 oldsmobile hurst w30 onto a car towing trailer . And it worked perfectly combined with a few chains. This was very easy to use and is high quality definitely got the job done .absolutely love this .
