Don't even try placing the contact paper without a this or similar toolkit. The value of this kit comes from the X-acto knives, the flat blue plastic card with felt tip edge and the measuring tape. The knife is of great quality( comes with 10 xtra blades- please exchange blade for new one as soon as light pressure on paper does not cut the sheet). The red paper cutter is useless (does poor job at cutting smoothly). Would recommend. ... show more

I used this kit to put the silver foil contact paper smoothly on to my kitchen ceiling tiles and by using the tools in this kit I didn't need extra tools other than a glue that could be used in humid conditions such as my kitchen. The roller didn't need much pressure applied to use it to smooth out the added glue to the tiles and by using the smoothing out flat tool that got rid of any wrinkles in the foil prior to gluing down. I was surprised at all the tools this kit contains. One of the tools has a very soft edge used to smooth the paper as you hang it. I was using peel and stick wallpaper. Directions said sometimes the color will be removed so they recommended using a chalkboard eraser.
