I was looking for a lightweight jacket to wear in Florida on 3 to 5 mile outdoor walks. This jacket is the perfect weight to break the wind, repel light rain and stay warm on cool mornings and evenings. I think it’s also a nice summer weight rain jacket. The fit is fine but as others have mentioned, the sleeves are long and the velcro straps are not as perfectly positioned for a tight fit around the wrists to hold the sleeves above the hands but, its long enough to cover the bum I’m trying to walk off and it fits well over my hips and it zips without being too snug. It’s a lined windbreaker/raincoat-the inner lining is more to keep moisture away from your skin than add warmth. It’s exactly what I was looking for and it’s the third Columbia jacket I’ve purchased. I'm so happy with this jacket. It is lightweight which will be perfect for Spring, cool summer nights and Fall. I live in CT. I need to test it for rain repellency. It definitely doesn't appear it will work for a downpour but if so, that's fine. Reviews said size up 1-2 sizes, so I was afraid this would be too small. It's plenty big. I carry all my weight in my middle and chest and find this very generously cut in the middle. But I guess it's because it's a straight cut jacket. I have narrow hips and can see how the cut might not work as well for a pear shape because it'd be loose in the waist and tight across the hip. For reference, I wear 18-20 in pants and 2x-3x in tops. The arm sleeves are very long on me which I was a little disappointed about. But the wrists can be tightened w. velcro which helps. I love the longer length. Plus sizes in this jacket may be true sizing vs. regular sizes because it appears many fewer plus size people complained this runs small. I love this jacket. It's very light so it's ideal to pack in a backpack. Got a super great deal too. $40 never better spent. Oh and despite being so light, it is still warm. ... show more

I got this for a trip to Ireland, and I’m thrilled that it was a staple not only for that trip, but also for my daily life (dog walks, hikes, rainy commutes) in New England! It’s genuinely waterproof and shields nicely in the wind, as demonstrated during a drizzle and windy afternoon on the Cliffs of Moher. It’s not especially warm, but definitely an added layer and shield from the elements; a good spring jacket. The adjustable sleeves and hood help it fit just right. Features: I love this jacket! It is perfect for all seasons. I Like that it has sleeves that can adjust at your wrist and the hood is adjustable as well. The inner lining is warm for 40-50F but, these are great features when you do want to layer underneath. In the summer, depending on the temperature, the inner lining may be a little too warm. Functionality: It works well on extremely rainy days. The water droplets do not soak into the outer material. I have not stood out in the rain long enough to determine if the water will eventually absorb into the material. But, so far it has not. Wear: I am glad I read previous reviews regarding the sizing of this jacket. My usual size for jackets is an M/L depending on the cut. However, I ordered an XL and it fits perfectly with extra room for layering. For reference, I am a woman, and I am bottom and top-heavy. I would recommend sizing up for room and comfort. Washing: I have not washed the jacket yet. But, I will follow instructions and most likely wash it inside out. Overall: I highly reccomend this jacket! It is a great buy! ... show more

I have confidence in the brand name and I like the price I paid for this jacket. It is windbreaker fabric on the outside so it does have the swishing noise as you walk. The style is more sporty casual than dressed for the office. The lining is a thin fleece which I think will be good for chilly rainy Spring through Fall days. I ordered a size up from what I would normally wear so it would be easy to layer underneath. However, it fits without a lot of extra room just over a T-shirt, especially around the armholes. I am not sure I can layer much under the jacket but hopefully at least a thin sweater if I leave it open. The sleeves are long but do have velcro to tighten them at the wrist. The hood covers my entire head and is without that annoying collar on the inside so many jackets have now. I like the zipper pockets and the jacket zipper seems sturdy enough. It will fold up small enough for travelling. Overall, it is a nice jacket but not a loose fit. ... show more

This is an excellent jacket. It protects well from the rain and wind, and the fit and look is great. It is a thin material, but has a soft interior lining to give some added warmth. It has been great to have to keep me dry during the rainy, cold spring weather.
