  • Absolutely Perfect!
Size: X-Large Color: Black/Black
I own several Columbia jackets and sweaters and they're all great. However, I had been looking for a real winter coat for a long time. I usually wear a large, but purchased an XL thinking I'd probably wear a sweater underneath or something. Without the sweater, it fits well. Just a little loose, but not big at all. Today, it's 32° and very windy. This coat is insulated so air doesn't get through it. It's long and the zipper can be unzipped from the top and the bottom. I find myself unzipping it about 1/3 of the way before I get into my car. The hat has fur, but can easily be removed by unbuttoning the buttons which is what I did. This coat is perfect for winter. Nothing is getting through this baby! ... show more

  • Stylish yet functional
Size: Large Color: Dark Sapphire
This coat ROCKS. It checks all the boxes! Stylish, beautiful color, fur-trimmed hood, thick but not bulky, and VERY WARM. So far, this late fall/winter season has seen temps below 0 to mid-30s, and I have been so thankful and amazed with how warm I am in this coat. I’m 5’7” and the length is perfect, hitting just above the knees. I like the lining, too, it’s not only effective at keeping in warmth but is also pretty! I did size up from medium to large so I could wear sweaters and blazers (for work) underneath it, and there is plenty of room for layering without adding bulk. I’ve been looking for a new winter coat for a couple of years - it doesn’t help that I am extremely particular. Columbia is a fantastic brand, as I have several coats from this brand, and they have all lasted well over 10 years. Very pleased with this purchase. Worth every penny. ... show more

  • Warm and good quality materials
**Origional review 5 stars** I bought this coat for winter chores in Kansas where it can get below zero, and we often have the brisk winds. I am 5'5", 130 lbs, small chest, 11" upper arms. I originally ordered a medium. If I was using this for commuting , this size would have been perfect. The sleeves hit at the base of my thumbs and the coat ended about 3" above the knee. The shoulders and arms fit without feeling binding with a lightweight long sleeve shirt on, however, was snug in the arms with a sweatshirt and pulled across the back when I moved. Because I need it for chores, I wanted more length and the ability to layer so I ordered the large. The sleeves cover to just past the base of my fingers and the coat goes to my knees. I can comfortably wear a shirt with flannel shirt or a sweatshirt layered under the coat. The coat is warm. I was starting to sweat in it while testing the layering system so I'm confident it will work when I'm out doing chores. A couple reviews mentioned gaps in the hood between buttons allowing wind in. The hood itself is sewn on. The faux fur is buttoned on and did gap, but I realized it was put on my hood backwards. I buttoned it on so the fur faced the inside of the hood, then folded it back on itself so the fur faced out. This covers the seam and there were no gaps. I don't know about the look, but when i adjust the hood strings, it does give a little more coverage around the face to block out the bitter winds. **UPDATE dropped to 4 stars ** I left the coat on the back porch, it was 50 deg. I went out to feed the horses and it was 30 deg no wind. I had on a t-shirt and could feel the chilly silver lining against my body. It wasn't really cold, but was not warm either. It never heated up from my body temperature after 1/2 hour of chores. I brought the coat into the house. Went to feed and it was 23 deg with 9mph winds. I wore a long sleeve t-shirt this time. Despite being in a 78 deg house (you can thank my elderly mother for that) the silver lining still felt chilly. I went inside and put on a lightweight flannel shirt over the long sleeve t-shirt. This time I could not feel the silver lining, but was not "toasty" warm, just comfortable. If I was not moving around I probably would have felt a little chilly. I will definitely need thicker layers as the temperature drops. As to durability, I walked too close to a hedge apple tree branch and thorns snagged the shoulder of the coat. When I got inside, I couldn't find any markings from the thorns. I put the coat in the house ... show more

  • Very warm
Size: Large Color: Black/Black
I bought this same coat in a 2x last spring for this past winter. I ended up losing over 100 pounds and the jacket was too big for me but I still wore it through the winter. I loved it! Kept me very warm throughout my Winter endeavors. Continued with my wellness routine and walked 2-3 times a day even though I live in Maine. I took advantage of this sale and ended up getting a size large. It fits perfectly but doesn’t leave a lot of room for a heavy sweater or sweatshirt underneath it. I’m hoping to be down a little bit more by winter so that the coat is a better fit. ... show more

  • Nice jacket
I really like this jacket which is more like a lightweight coat. The size I chose is XL which is my normal size. It runs narrower on the top but for me it fits fine. For a bustier woman it could be snug. I walk often so I needed something that came down to my knees and this worked for me. The sleeves are long also which I appreciate at 5’10” sleeves can be a problem. I got the Black jacket. I’ve always liked the Columbia brand for my jackets. And I still have room to layer if I need to. Being waterproof is nice and the detached fur trim for the hood is a plus it buttons on/off. This jacket has 3 pockets total. The front top left pocket is perfect for a cellphone or wallet and the bottom pockets are roomy for hands or gloves etc. But overall I’m happy with it and would highly recommend. Hopefully this review is helpful. ... show more

  • Omni heat is the reason I bought this
Size: Medium Color: Black/Black
I ordered the medium even though an extra small would be my ideal size. I did this because coats have a tendency fit short in the arms and shoulder area, and be super suffocating when wearing a base layer and/or sweaters. It is lightweight, and comfortable so no worries about it being so bulk. The color was perfect and didn't have that "trashbag" look. I haven't tested the wind resistance, because I live in the south, and bought this during the summer (I like to be prepared for cold weather and would rather pay clearance prices now, than premium prices during season), so I'll update on it holds against the cold winds of the water towns. Zipper quality is what you would expect of a premium brand ... show more
