  • Just what I needed!
This jacket is great for me! But I see why it's not great for everyone. I purchased the Purple Lotus in a 3x after reading reviews to size up. The color is BEAUTIFUL!! I am usually between a 1x and a 2x; depending on how the bust fits. I have a winter coat that is snug in a 1x and a 2x one that is almost too loose. This 3x fits me well. I am 5'5" and it just covers my butt. The 3x is roomy enough that I can add layers under it as long as the sleeves are fitted. I could probably wear a couple layers on my torso; but the sleeves feel cut narrow. If you carry weight in your arms; this jacket may not fit you well. This is why I am giving it 4 stars. The draw string around the bottom and hood seem very functional. The coat is lightweight and looks easy to pack whether your putting it in a backpack or just carrying it in your purse in case of rain later. The zippers on the pockets are always appreciated! I really love the color! Sometimes the color selection on plus size coats is depressing; so finding such a pretty shade of purple is really nice! (I did not see this color on the Columbia website itself.) Buying coats online is risky; but this turned out well with reading reviews. So overall; good coat once sized up. But beware if you have larger arms. Ironically; the sun came out after pouring rain when I went got this package out of my mailbox. I almost got to test it in the rain! ... show more

  • Odd fabric and awkward velcro closures
Based on other reviews and my desire to wear layers under this jacket, I ordered a 2X. That was a mistake. The 2X was huge on me. I would have exchanged it for a 1X, except for two things: 1. The fabric was very stiff and didn't drape at all. (Combined with the boxy cut, the lack of draping made me look gigantic.) Also, the fabric didn't feel breathable and it crinkled loudly whenever I moved. 2. The velcro tabs down the front of the jacket were a pain to deal with. With snaps, regardless of whether you snap them, the front placket lies flat. With the velcro, I either had to meticulously push each set of tabs together or they grabbed each other askew and pulled the placket off-kilter. There are times when I just want to throw a jacket on and not completely zip and snap/velcro the closures. This jacket didn't allow me to do that. I really wanted a waterproof jacket, but ended up getting the Columbia "pardon my trench" jacket, which is labelled "water-resistant". I hope that's enough. ... show more

  • Nice rain jacket
This jacket came up when I searched for windbreaker. It is a very nice waterproof rain jacket but not a windbreaker. If I needed a rain jacket, I would likely keep it. It fits well, though the upper arms are a bit tighter than expected, and looks very nice. The only thing that is bothersome is the multiple strips of very strong, very loud velcro that covers the zipper. It would drive me crazy to have to open the velcro every time I wanted to zip or unzip the jacket (it seems to be nearly "self-sealing" velcro at least on the new jacket, so I don't think there is anyway around it). ... show more

  • Nice jacket hate the velcro
It is a nice jacket great color I ordered the pink. I'm a size xl but the 1x fits perfectly so it runs small. I really liked the jacket but hated the Velcro. It sticks to everything there is even Velcro up around your face. Unfortunately I'm sending it back disappointed.

  • Want to love it but....
First I ordered a 1x but returned it for a 2x. It fits, but the heavy mesh lining makes it virtually impossible to put my arms in the sleeves if I have a sweatshirt or fleece. It all just sticks to the mesh. I love the color and fabric and the fit is fine, but I will probably pay someone to line the sleeves so that I can use it more easily. ... show more

  • great summer jacket
You get what you pay for. I am very happy with my purchase- lightweight, keeps me dry in the rain, warm on windy days, and is comfy due to a mesh interior. Fits as expected. I'm a 16, DD, and ordered a 2x. It's a little big in the sleeves and stomach, but fits well in the chest. Very few coats are cut for curves, and you can tell from the pic that this one is not either. Order up if you have either really broad shoulders or an ample bosom (Columbias are all built for a straight/rectangular figure). Still worth the money tho. I can now feel free to layer, which extends the utility of the coat through the fall and spring. I swear by Columbia. ... show more

  • so cute and great. Thanks Columbia
This is a really cute jacket. It's great for a windbreaker or rain jacket. But very thin. I have bought other Columbia Jackets and I am in between XL and 1x and the fleece Columbia jacket fit pretty big, yet this one fit pretty tight. It seems the sizing is off. All in all I love the color and look. And Columbia is a great brand. ... show more

  • So loud!
This jacket's lining makes all sorts of noise. Like a big paper bag being crinkled. Not a little noise, nothing that could be ignored. I rarely write reviews but wanted to save someone else the bother. I really needed a jacket for tonight but this isn't it. I'll go without instead of wearing it. Other than that the fit was standard, good arm length. It's very thin like a rain jacket/wind breaker. Not like a coat depending on what the person was looking for. ... show more
