I am a 5'9" woman and have several older ladies Benton Springs jackets that are fine but the cut has changed. Recent one ordered was a Very skimpy cut and shorter. So tried this mens to get more length and it's perfect. I needed a tad bit more room in the Medium but can sew, so I let out the side seams, gave me another inch around and I'm happy with it now. I had first ordered a Large but it was HUGE, so much that I wondered if it was mis-labeled. Lots of difference between M and L, more than Columbia website size/measurement chart indicated.

I bought this jacket about 15 years ago and decided I needed a new one as the old one was starting to show signs of wear and had a couple of stains that won't wash out. I was super happy that it was exactly the same as the old one other than a slight change in the embroidery. I noticed that the fabric had hardly faded over the years but it had become a bit rougher from repeated washings, which was something I didn't notice until I had a new jacket to compare it to which was really soft. Columbia has always produced a quality product and I am happy that they still do. Maybe in 15 more years I can replace again with the same thing.

I've read comments about this jacket, claiming that it is not made as well as older Columbia jackets of similar type, but I find the quality is pretty-much the same. Yes, it does not have the embroidered "Columbia" name on the breast, but who cares - it has a tag that is sewn on just fine. I suppose some folks just don't like change. I love my new jacket just as much as the older one I bought a good 10 years ago, and it gets a strong 5 stars in my book.

Really like the fit, from it being a tall size to overall fit, of the jacket. Had no idea there were “tall” sizes. I’m tall and all others I’ve owned were a little too short but this one was perfect (or maybe a little long, or it could be I just got used to my others). I’d definitely recommend buying the tall size if you’re like me and the others sit at or just above your belt line. If I had to do it over, I’d buy the next smaller size since it’s the tell size (meaning buying say a L instead of an XL)

The black is more of a charcoal grey. The photos make it appear as black/brown, but once I saw it in person it has very visible to me that it wasn’t a true black. Slightly disappointed, but overall an amazing jacket.

2nd one of these I have (the first I inherited from my father in law). I wear these as coats outside and they are nice and warm (even do a decent job of blocking the wind) and also wear them as sweaters around the house on cold days. Also quite comfortable with big pockets to boot. Recommended (I will likely get another in another color).
