  • So Far good
Style: 6-person
Set it up in garage. Everything looks nice. Will update after the summer camping trips. Looks like lots of room.

  • Typical Coleman Tent
Style: 4-person
This tent shouldn't be confused with the Skydome "dark rest" series or the plain Skydome without the screen room when you are doing your comparisons. This makes for an actual 2 room tent with real separation between rooms instead of the sometimes pin up curtain offered in some other tents. There is only the 1 door so if you're using the screen room for an extra bunk, you'll' need to pass over that person on the way in and out. The screen room is fully screened for good weather but also closes up for privacy and bad weather, although there is no venting offered when fully closed. The entrance is an inverted "T" zippered doorway. It is low, there is no walk through. You will need to stoop or crawl in and out unless you are a child. The setup tent is more cabin like than a traditional dome, offering some extra headspace, but it is not tall. The center height is only 4' 8" so no standing upright unless you have child like dimensions. Total floor space is about 80 sq ft, with a little less than 60 sq ft in the main cabin and a little over 20 sq ft in the screen room. The main tent is free standing but the screen room is not, requiring staking to be set up properly. There is no separating the screen room from the main cabin. It is one unit, so it is not entirely free standing. This is often a problem in Arizona because there are very few places you can drive a stake into the ground, and if you can, there is no grip to keep it there. The tent is stated as a 4 person plus 1 in the screen room. I see this as a roomy and comfortable 2 person tent, 3 is ok and 4 really starts getting crowded. The weight is just under 17 lbs., obviously not a backpacking tent or something to carry far from the car. packed size is about 24" long and 10" by 10". There is no information I could find anywhere what the materials are or a waterproof rating. The seams are taped, and it has a tub like floor, definitely not more than a 3-season tent. I'm haven't had a chance to try it in the rain. I really try to avoid camping if there's rain anywhere in the forecast. I'm sure it will do fine in light rains and drizzle, but in heavy downpours I'm skeptical of any tent. Heavy rains seem to work its way into the best of tents. Setup is easy enough if you done a few different tents. Color coding the poles helps a little and reassures you that you're moving in the right direction. Do yourself a favor and do a few practice take downs and set-ups at home and then it will be quick and easy at the camp ground. ... show more

  • It's a Coleman
Style: 4-person
Coleman tents are not the fanciest tents out there, but they aren't priced as such, either. This is a Coleman quality tent. What does that mean? You're going to get good seams, decent materials, and strong flexible polls. You'll also get some pockets and lantern (LED recommended) hooks. How easy is it really to set up? Pretty easy, but it is not going to only take 5 minutes the first time. They color code the corner of the rainfly; I do wish they would have color coded the front pole clips vs. the cross-poll clips (since the pole itself is a different color, gray clips would have been perfect!) On first setup, I went down the wrong set -- only takes a minute to note you're going the wrong way, but there goes one of your five minutes! I have mixed feelings on clips vs. channels. My last Coleman tent (about six years ago) used channels, and while you had to play with the pole a little, there wasn't any guessing. With the clips, you have to know right where you are on the pole as you attach each clip. Main reason I wanted this tent was the vestibule. I don't like bringing my muddy shoes inside my tent after a day of hiking, but I don't like them sitting outside (since you never know when that stray shower might come by). This tent gives you a little "mud room" to store some gear and keeps it out of the rain. Can someone sleep in the vestibule? Sure. It's the size of a small pup tent. Not too comfortable if they are over 6' tall, but I'm sure kids would love it. As long as they're away they will be crossed over if someone needs the bathroom at night! The main tent is roomy. Fits a queen inflatable mattress. So, more than enough room for two. I personally don't like being all cramped up when camping, so when four of us go camping, it's two tents roughly this size. But if you want to all scootch together, you could fit four in here. I can somewhat stand (being 6'), not all the way, but enough to get around. Not that I spend a lot of time standing in a tent. As with all tents (and ever since I accidentally camped in a rainforest on one bike-camping trip): I do recommend a tarp underneath. This has a decent floor, but a tarp catches any sharp objects you might have missed and will make your tent last longer. Don't like privacy? Pull that rainfly off! The main tent is almost all mesh, so without the fly, it's a nearly clear dome. When using the fly, you can set the ropes to open or close it as much as you want (or need airflow). How long does it take to setup really? Experienced campers, give yourself about 10 minutes on that first try. From then on, 5-10 minutes depending on your campsite. As with all Coleman tents, the setup instructions (one page) are permanently built into the bag it comes in. Oh, one other feature that is new to me: Not good at packing up a tent? Always fighting to get it in the bag? They have a "rip strip" that you can release if you need it that makes the bag a little bigger. Good at packing up a tent? Then don't pull the strip! Planning my next camping trip now! ... show more

  • Good overall tent
Style: 4-person
Just finished doing a weekend beach tent camping with it. Tent survived well the winds and rain. Only downside is that I broke two plastic clips, seems like they break easily so be careful when snapping clips

  • We love this Coleman Skydome tent!
Style: 4-person
We've owned a lot of tents from 2 man up to 8 man, mostly from higher end manufacturers. The design of this tent is excellent; it does everything very well. If you've ever setup a tent before, this one is a breeze. Even the first time, it took us 5 minutes tops. Once up, we commented on how great this tent looks. The colors are very sharp looking. All of the materials seem very heavy duty and we only found one stray thread (that wasn't attached to anything). For a 4 person tent, we think this one has a ton of space. We can fit our inflatable two person mattress in and have plenty of room for a dog bed for our 90 lb. yellow lab. The screen room is such a cool feature and really sets this tent apart from the rest. It provides a protected area for boots, shoes, backpacks, coolers, etc. Not only is it screened, but it can be closed off by zipping up the window covers. We haven't had it in the rain yet, but we did inspect all of the stitching and applied Coleman seam sealer in some of the areas so that we'll have minimal chances of water getting in. We do this with all of our tents. We used to spend $$$ on high end tents, but after owning a few of the newer Coleman tents, we don't really see a need to spend the extra money as our Coleman tents have provided us with all of the quality we need. We absolutely love this tent and are looking forward to more camping trips with this tent. We would highly recommend it. ... show more
