  • Great value
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. I shopped around a lot before buying this thing and I'm glad I did. First of all... you don't need to be a mechanic to assemble/maintenance/ operate one of these but you definitely need to be handy and have a basic knowledge of vehicles. Secondly you'll need a few things like engine oil, Grease and Grease gun, Ethanol Free gas, tire slime and loctite. I've told my kids to basically drive this thing until it breaks. And they have. I've had to replace the tires (mainly before I figured I could patch and throw slime in them), the crankshaft sprocket and the gear chain. I recommend when putting it together to seal every bolt with loctite because the entire frame vibrates when operated. There's also one Grease spot on the back you'll need to promptly lubricate. You can also lubricate the chain with an oil/protectant as well. Cheap parts like the chain and sprocket are the Achilles heel to this cart... but if you feed it Ethanol Free gas and keep her maintenanced you'll enjoy it for years to come. ... show more

  • Decent, Needs Better QC...
Color: Red
TLDR at the bottom. So we gave this a little time before writing a review, mainly to see if the "funk" had been worked out and it seems to be. Assembly was easy enough, had all the parts and overall the unit seems to be built well. Engine fires up first pull, pretty much every time and runs great. Brakes are decent, handling and vibrations are what's to be expected on a go-kart of this size. I did notice on some reviews people mentioning that bolts were loose or came loose quickly, so I did be sure and torque on everything and make sure it was tight before letting our son take it out. I did a test run up and down the street real quick and in our field (where my son would be driving) and everything seemed okay, however within 20 minutes of my son driving it around, he was stopped due to excessive belt slippage and wear. We let it cool off and parked it for the day, I inspected everything and again, all seemed well, we blamed it on the excessive heat that day (almost 100 and 100% humidity) and he tried it again. Lo and behold, same issue, just minutes in... Also to note, he is all of 50lbs, so I knew it wasn't a weight issue. I chalked this up to the belt now having wear and began my search locally for a replacement, figured this belt might just be a junk/cheap belt and that a new, better quality belt might alleviate the issue. My search lead me to discover that this is a very specific belt and not just something anyone carries, it is straight on one side and has a v groove on the other, something apparently none of the auto parts stores nor small engine shops in my area carry. Interesting and inconvenient. In talking to one of my small engine repair shops however, he instructed me to look closely at the clutch assembly and how the engine was mounted, he said that even though it looked straight, it could be off slightly and that would be all it took. Upon closer inspection and taking a straight edge to it, indeed the engine needed to slide left a bit and was at a bit of an angle, rubbing on the belt prematurely. I unbolted the 4 bolts for the engine (a couple were not the easiest due to position and tight clearances), and slid it over ever so slightly (was already close to the end) and orientated the engine to line up square with the clutch (seemingly a bit crooked to be honest, but none the less the clutch and engine were finally square). I put the old belt back on because I didn't want to test with a new one. The kart has been fine since, my son has put a couple hours on it, the belt now has a bit of a gap before touching the flat side and rides on the bearings rather than rubbing on the sidewall of the clutch (at idle). Other than that I've had to retighten the collar on the front shocks and the rest has been good. TLDR: Good, but could be much better if more attention was paid to quality control. If you look everything over and have a bit of knowhow, this can be a very good machine for the price. Really hope Coleman can make the manufacturer pay a bit more attention to detail. ... show more

  • Looking for a Great Go Cart, Look no further, you found it
Color: Red
I did a ton of research before purchasing this Coleman go cart and I am glad I did. Did not want to spend a ton of money on some of the higher end models until I new how my son would take to it. He has rode power wheels in the past and this is his first "gas" powered cart. He absolutely loves it, he does extra chores so he can get more ridding time on the go cart. I was first going to get the Coleman one sitter or the mega motto one sitter but did some digging and many people where having a hard time getting parts for the mega motto so I turned my attention solely on Coleman, he loves the fact it has 2 seats so he can take a friend a ride, heck he even takes good old dad for a ride around the property and I weigh 200 pounds, this cart can easy handle the load capacity that they claim of 400 pounds for sure. It is built very weigh and I can not say enough about the great way they shipped it. The outer box was a little dinged up but that is to be expected as this is a very large and heavy item but the cart is enclosed in an angle iron cage that you have to disassemble first to get the cart out and start putting it together. Some reviewers frowned upon this but I like the fact that they did not go cheap on the packing material and nothing on our cart was damaged at all. The cart is well designed but there are a few things that are somewhat negative but does not nor should affect its over all rating. The oil fill/dip stick is in a pretty hard to reach area but with the right long funnel its not to bad, I also use a funnel putting gas in as the gas cap is right below the back rack, the funnel makes it much easier to put gas in. So far it handles very well, the seat belts are great, the roll cage seems very sturdy, On my sons birthday I think the grown ups had just as much fun ridding the cart and my 4-wheeler around as all the little ones did, and by the way if you are worried about your son fitting into this as some reviewers said it was some, the seat will go back and as long as you are not really tall you should be fine, it says for riders 13 plus but my son got this for his 6th birthday and let me tell you he drives it like a pro, I had to move the seat all the way up which makes it a little crapped for when he takes me for a ride and also put padding around the side and back for him but this way I wont be buying a new ride on every year and hopefully as long as we take care of it should last for several years to come, it does have a governor screw that you can adjust to make the cart go even faster and kits you can purchase on line to customize it but it is fast enough out of the grate as is right now for my son, he loves it and he always wears his helmet when he rides it along with the seat belt, it has a safety shut off button up front. Another cool feature of the 2 seat cart vs the one seat cart is the fact this one has shocks on the front and rear, does not seem like a big deal but driver one of these for several hours can get pretty bumpy on the ole back side so the shocks are great. Also like I mentioned early on my son his several power wheels which he has been ridding since before 2, we love them but good ole dad is constantly charging batteries, this thing runs on gas and let me tell you it will run for a long long time on a full tank. Get product and so glad we got this one, did find it cheaper a few places like sams club but got free shipping from Amazon and the guys put it right in my garage for me, Can't beat that. Thanks Amazon for another great birthday for my son ... show more
