We bought a cappacino machine with a steamer for frothing the milk. Froth was very inconsistent, often varying between different cartons of milk, but never satisfactory. I bought this mechanical frother, and I get very dense, stable foam on a consistent basis. My wife likes the froth to be somewhat warm, and I tried preheating the milk slightly in the microwave -- and it wouldn't froth. I now use it straight from the fridge, froth it, then put the froth in the microwave for about 15 seconds. It's absolutely perfect. No need to try to use the steaming wand -- it just doesn't even come close. The unit is simple, robust, and easy to clean. Worked on scrambling eggs too!
