    • At first, this device was a BIG MISTAKE (1st review), but OPQPQ has made it RIGHT!

I asked Opqpq Support by email, before the Opqpq DM 202 Max arrived, what the latest firmware version was - Opqpq Support replied that the device came with the latest version (1.2.22), but not to worry, I could use an alternate updated firmware if needed. The alternate sales the same device but their site says 1.2.23 version is available. My microscope arrived and after two weeks of perfect operation, I decided to update the firmware using the alternate version, as Opqpq does not provide updates. BIG MISTAKE !! Now, my DM 202 Max only displays the alternate initial splash screen and is otherwise inoperative, can't even power off the device unless the RESET is pressed - then it powers off. REVIEW UPDATE & RATING CHANGE: I must add that OPQPQ people have gone to the limits to address my issues. I had to return the original unit as it was inoperative after updating the firmware (which I believe was actually for another device (THE WRONG FIRMWARE)). SO, I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE - EXACT SAME MODEL - IT'S A DEAL! The device is awesome, the screen resolution is perfect and as I say - the support from OPQPQ is outstanding. I changed the rating to only a 4-Star at this time, as I need to measure very small objects (watch parts) and while it can be done by using a "stage micrometer" slide as a reference, OPQPQ is working with me to improve that functionality. I am impressed, you should be too. PS: I think my rating will be a 5-Star soon. 03/14/2023 Update: OPQPQ's support people have been outstanding. My issue has been resolved by OPQPQ and the DM 202 Max is an awesome device for anyone working on very small objects, I highly recommend it! ... show more

These past few years, I’ve gotten a little bit into coin collecting. I look up what the new news is on error coins. I tried a magnifying glass, and still can’t get a closer look on my coins to find errors. I looked up on Amazon to see which one of these microscopes would be for my coins. Contents in package were secured. The 5 slides included were various bug parts, I wasn't too interested in looking at that. I use this to work on electrical components, I think it works better than a magnifying glass because you can adjust the lens and increase magnification. It's a good quality display. I purchased this for grading sports cards. While I did have a small issue at first; their customer service team was extremely fast to respond with a solution. Overall the product is exactly what I was looking for. An easy out of the box solution to the always debatable world of "grading". Now I can record my view of the cards and include with sale posting or keep my own records. They even include the SD card and cables to connect to a computer or use as a stand alone! Size: ODM202 Max-10" HDMI Digital Microscope
I can only rate what I have, and I got a card error. Tried a few cards, formatting it in the scope, in the PC, nadda. The rest works. The goose lamps really don't stay in place well. The screen always seems to have a iso static on it. And on a black background the brightness goes in and out for some reason. The base wobbles. It has rubber feet and yet it wobbles? The hole it goes into is too tight and its hard to get it in and out, I think there are burrs messing it up. I was hoping to show off what it can do, but I can't read to the card and the wires they included are so short its going to be hard to use it with the computer. It has a 30mm screw in UV filter, so I could get a polarizer for this if I wanted too, I just have to experiment with circular vs linear. It magnifies well, I have a circuit board from an old hearing aid that measures 6x4mm, which fills the entire screen and the lens is about 3 1/2" away, giving me plenty of clearance. If I don't mind a grainier image (and again I don't know what a photo would look like, the screen itself is grainy, I can us a digital zoom and have closer to 5.5" away. It should work for soldering if I need to, just need to get used to looking at a screen. Interesting, those numbers are not actually accurate. It seems that by default the screen is actually set in digital zoom mode, that's why I saw the static, when I was messing with the zoom, I could go much further back. Which is really deceiving as I don't see a mention of that in the menu settings that it starts zoomed in. Also when I loosen the back, the whole thing drops an inch downward. If I relied just on optical zoom, that same exact view, leaves me with no space at all for soldering, about 3/4" and the depth of focus is really limited as well. For soldering larger things would probably be OK, but for micro, you would have to use digital which is disappointing. Making me wonder If the 3 lens version was actually the better option. But I liked that this has a light, and the ability to shoot photos off the stand if I wanted too. Edit - a day later... For some reason when I plugged the usb into the computer, it worked, I don't know why that made it work and I got no explanation why. The camera app on the pc however only takes 2mp images. Writing to the card is very slow even with a better card in there. The focus close up is shallow, millimeters in depth. Good enough to insert a watch gear but for photos its shallow. To get a good picture you need to take many and stack them up. This thing needs A LOT of light, otherwise the images are SUPER NOISY with a lot of rainbow noise. The lights it comes with doesn't give you enough light for macro photography, I had to use one of those covid ring lights to light it enough. So creative lighting may be out because of this. The gooseneck lights are a pain to use because they don't quite line up in the center where you need it, it springs back. The light isn't diffused enough, I may print out a diffuser of some kind. If I had to do this again, I would probably get the smaller screen. The resolution isn't great on this, and I don' think it helps much that its larger. There are 2 other companies that has this exact device, this one had the highest discount. But otherwise they are the same. There is another from this company that had a cheaper version for coins, but it didn't have the slide light box, and I don't know if in the future I would miss that or not. Oh and very important, the plug into the wall must be plugged in right, or it won't charge. And you'll be on battery. If that little light isn't glowing, then you have it plugged in wrong. I wish this had an iris, or that I can control the ISO, or shutter speed. And my base wobbles for some reason. A circular polarizer didn't seem to make a difference btw, haven't tried linear yet. As a side note, you'll never look at a flower the same way again. There are so many nearly invisible creepy crawlies hiding inside those things. ... show more

The only complaint (2 but same source) I have is that the 2 additional lights have to be plugged in to use, they aren't on the battery, and while they are fully adjustable- they don't seem very useful unless they are at the exact right angle. That aside, I love the microscope and it works fabulous, just don't expect the extra lights to do anything more. I tried to upload a picture but it wouldn't let me. ... show more
