    • Great Starter Sourdough Bread Set
While I've been sourdough baking some time, this is a great starter set that gives you most of what you need to begin. I got this because I wanted a round banneton (I had an oval one) and wanted the addition of a bowl scraper and danish whisk which make mixing the dough a little easier. A special call out to the digital thermometer. I usually heat up water in microwave and use the finger dip method to make sure not too hot. Having a thermometer makes this easier and less likely to burn my finger. Getting this as a set was less expensive than buying these items separately and in additional to these you also get a bread lame (w/extra blades), bench scraper, and extra cloth cover to boot. Once you get this starter set and you are sold on bread making by hand, I'd also recommend a kitchen scale and cast iron dutch oven. Those two items will raise your bread game, but they are a little more expensive so don't buy until committed to be a bread baker. But if you are just beginning, this is a great set to get. Or if like me and need a few of the items in this set, it will be cheaper than buying individually. ... show more

Everything you need to get started. The banneton is sturdy and has a removable liner (maybe this is the 2nd piece of linen cloth?). The kit also includes a dough whisk. This one is heavy duty with a metal handle. The lame is similar to the ones you find in all these kits. It will get the job done. This set includes a thermometer which is super useful when making bread. Also included is a single piece (the ad says 2 pieces)of open weave linen cloth. I think this is used to cover the dough when it's proofing. The bench knife and bowl scraper are well designed and attractive. I won't use the pastry brush for baking but will use it for BBQ. ... show more

This kit contains almost everything you'll need to get started with making loaves. I do wish that more instructions or a link to videos on how to get started were included. As it is now, this kit is a basic kit for those looking to begin their journey in sourdough bread making. I have learned that the process is more involved to get the starter made, and the overall resting and proofing. Now, just need a dutch oven to get those loaves popping out!! ... show more

This set gives the beginner to sourdough all of the essential tools. The banneton basket is perfect size for a traditional loaf and all of the tools are sturdy and well made. This is an excellent price for all of these items, and will work for you throughout your sourdough journey!

This really isn't a great kit to start with for sourdough as it doesn't have things like the sourdough starter, proofing containers,etc. That being said its great as the second kit, as you will eventually need all the things this comes with to process your sourdough. Or you can use it with regular breads, I won't judge. The proofing basket is nice and its great to have extras of the other items as well. ... show more

This sourdough starter kit comes with many of the items that you would need when making sourdough bread. The only thing missing is a jar to begin the sourdough itself, the ingredients and the dutch oven to cook it in. Once you have made the starter dough, this kit will help with mixing the bread dough, the proofing basket, a scraper, the lame for slicing the top before baking, and the brush for adding a glaze.
