After two decades of self tanning I’m not easily impressed, it takes a lot to please me with self tan products. My natural complexion is mid century, little Timmy is sick and super pale and not gonna make it type pale. I’m surprised my natural foundation shade isn’t called Victorian ghost. I got the medium shade - sunny honey. I even hesitantly put more on than I normally do with my regular dark shade self tanner. Still it didn’t take much product for the results, two pumps per limb and my front torso, 3 pumps for my back and I used the left over product on the mitt for my face. So this bottle will last me awhile. Giiiiiirl. My hands didn’t come out funny or blotchy or anything. Mind you besides moisturizing almost daily my entire body, I also showered, exfoliated and moisturized my hands and elbows before applying the tanner and buffed these areas with a kabuki brush to blend. Flawless. The color is a grayish green - that’s because green is the opposite of orange on the color wheel and it cancels out orange tones by using the opposite color. It’s basic color theory. Hairdressers know what I’m saying. It serves as a guide to not miss spots and to cancel out orange. So don’t freak out, you’re not going to be green. It smelled GOOD. Never came across another self tanner that smelled this fruity. It developed quick - within two hours. I actually put it on in the morning and went on with my day no problems, not smelling or looking funny and was fully sun kissed by brunch. The photos are not photoshopped in any way. Just my 34 year old self with no filters and makeup that’s worn off after a day of work with no touch ups. I did this to hopefully help someone make an honest decision about trying this product. There’s an indoor photo and an outdoor photo (against the brick wall) for the results in indoor light and sunlight comparison. It’s funny bc I feel like I look more orange indoors and not in the sun. Sunny Honey worked like a dream. It wasn’t too dark and even with my dark hair I still looked tanned but not too much. I've tried them all - the "Ultra Dark" version is the best on the market. I get a deep color and it has staying power as long as you moisturize in the AM and PM (I use eos Shea Butter 24-Hour moisturizer to keep it up). I'm a huge fan and will continue to order.

Pros: It has a nice fruity smell as you apply and it applies smoothly with the mitt. I have never seen any streaks. The tan lasts for 5-7 days before it’s truly faded Cons: it still has that typical self tan development smell. It’s not as strong as others but it’s still there. Also, unless you are extremely pasty white, I would not buy the Medium color. I am a pale blonde but even the medium took 2 layers to get to a normal level of tan. I took away a star for this reason because based on the photos, I assumed the medium would still be plenty dark but I think it is a bit misleading. I know I’ll just buy Dark or Extra Dark in the future. TL;DR: Not my holy grail, but a close second. A nice tanning foam. Buy dark/extra dark unless you’re very very pale. ... show more

Took more time getting residue off my hands than applying to both my legs. They mean it when they say to wear a mitt to apply. That said, it looks great with no streaks and a noticeable difference in tanned look. Not so tanned that it looked fake, and I started with winter white legs. Looks very natural ... show more

smells like heaven!! It’s so hard to find a decent priced self tanner that actually leaves you smelling good! I did two coats of the dark and rinsed and there’s no streaking it stayed on perfectly! Definitely something to invest in!

I was a loyal subscriber to Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Tanning Lotion, and for good reason—it delivered a fantastic tan! Unfortunately, my journey with this product came to an end due to a significant drawback: the inclusion of a variation of red dye in the formula. I genuinely loved the results of this tanning lotion, and it consistently provided a beautiful, natural-looking tan. The application was smooth, and the scent was pleasant. However, upon discovering the red dye content, I had to make the difficult decision to stop using it. The presence of red dye in a product I applied to my skin regularly was a dealbreaker for me, as I've been actively working to reduce exposure to such ingredients. It's disappointing to part ways with a tanning lotion I enjoyed so much due to this particular component. For those not sensitive to red dye or those who don't mind its inclusion in their skincare products, Sunny Honey is likely a fantastic option. The results are undeniable. However, for individuals like me who are actively avoiding certain ingredients, this may not be the ideal choice. In summary, I would have given this product a higher rating if it weren't for the red dye content. It's effective, but I ultimately had to seek out alternatives that align with my ingredient preferences.
