If you like bourbon, scotch, and/or mixed drinks, this is a fun toy to add to your collection. I admit I am a gadget freak. I learned about these drink smokers when a friend visited and brought his. My wife overheard us raving about it so, voilà, I got a birthday present. This one is more handsome than my friend's. It comes with four different flavors of wood chips, oak, cherry, apple and pecan. It is easy to use but note, you must have a kitchen torch, not a lighter. Otherwise, the flame will not get to the bottom of the screen where the wood chips are held. It only takes a small pinch of wood to generate a great deal of smoke. I did not know how soluble smoke is, but the drink quickly absorbs the smoky flavor and aromas. It only takes about 20 to 30 seconds and you have a brand new drink experience. For me, it adds a certain sweetness to the drink and a delicious flavor. It is not a burning paper or campfire type of smell, you'll just have to try it. The price is reasonable so it's not a big gamble to buy one, but I doubt that you will be disappointed. I am fairly new to mixing cocktails and making drinks. My wife started liking old fashions so I thought it would be fun to add the element of smoke to some drinks. I am 100% sure the lack of smoke I get is due to user error as the flame goes out quickly on me and I have to light multiple times to get the smoke. The issue is there are no clear instruction on use of product leaving me guessing on the correct technique to add smoke to a drink. the quality is good and plenty of wood shavings to keep me having fun for a long time. ... show more

I received the item and was planning on gifting it. There was no "wood" odor to the smoker or any of the chips in the package. The item says "made in China" and there is no craftsmanship to it. Otherwise, it is as described.

Had been wanting a cocktail glass smoker for several years but at $100 - 200 it never made it to the top of my priority list. I saw this and thought it was worth a try for the price. It is great.
