I read all the reviews before I ordered these chairs and decided to go for it since I had already purchased the matching table. I am so glad I did! They were easy to assemble and seem to be very sturdy. The color is a perfect match to the table, although both were much darker than pictured, I guess that is a true chestnut! The awful chair pads had to go. The chairs were easy to recover and look great... if I do say so myself, and I even had enough fabric left over to make a table runner! Chairs look great once assembled and match well with modern or mid-century decor and my table. The wood frame feels sturdy and the seats are comfortable for short to medium use. Assembly takes some patience, as aligning the legs is a bit tricky. For the price, they look much more expensive than they are. These chairs are lovely. They are a darker walnut than the picture, and the seats are more tan than cream, but I am very happy with them. Amazing quality for the price. Relatively easy to assemble. Very sturdy. Small and light, which is what i wanted for my smaller kitchen. Highly recommend!     • Pretty nice, but a lot darker finish than the picture shows

These are a pretty good value. They are stylish, comfortable, and not *too* hard to put together. I got four, and it took about fifteen minutes a chair. The fourth one had some holes in the back that were not aligned quite right, and that took a frustrating ten minutes to get right. Good thing that didn't happen with the first one - I might have gotten frustrated enough to send them back. My main disappointment is that the finish is really dark. It's a dark walnut brown, and not the medium brown that you would think from the picture. That means they clash a lot more with my dining room table that I was expecting, and I'm not sure they're going to stay there indefinitely. A couple of assembly hints: (1) on the very first step, make sure you put the legs together so that the holes for the brace face each other (the brace fits in the legs underneath the seat). That's easy to miss from the minimal directions. I made that mistake and fortunately noticed before I put the first bolt in. (2) insert the long arm of the hex wrench to get bolts started, and only insert the short end for more leverage when you are doing the final tightening. (3) use some of the packing material to protect the finish, and do some taps with a tack hammer to ensure that the final screw hole covers on the back are in tight. ... show more

The height of the chair seat at its highest point in the front is 18 inches (and that's after I added felt pads to the legs), which is too short. I feel like I'm at the kids table (and I'm a tallish woman) and need to ask for a phone book (what's that?!) to sit on. Someone described the color as soul-less. I'd say just plain ugly. I guess I can use two of them as the "extra" chairs when we put the extension leaf in and buy four other chairs for everyday use. It would be such a hassle to dis-assemble them and ship them back. Perhaps if I re-upholster them with a thicker padding. But --- Also, the total height of the chair back is low - just less than 31 inches at the tallest towards the outside and 30 inches at the center. They look odd with the table - they just need to be sized up. The finish quality is not great. One chair back had two white paint flecks on them. I tried getting it off with Krud Cutter - no luck. I did get it off with a magic eraser, but that changed the sheen. One chair back has some small chips and the finish looks like someone handled it before it was fully dry. I guess for the price I could live with that except that it's too small a chair. The seat is a bit small too. It's OK, but if your body mass index is anywhere from average to above average, you might feel like your rear is not fully supported. The wood color is dark - as others commented. I would describe it as walnut. The chiars went together easily (thanks to the reviewer who said assemble with the screw holes for the joining support facing each other!). There was one screws for the supports where I couldn't get the allen wrench to spin, just a slight alignment problem - had to take a half turn, then take it out, another half turn... They look solid. Very cool chairs! Super comfortable. However they are packed with a ton of STYROFOAM. For 8 chairs I filled three large yard waste size bags of Styrofoam. Wtf! This is so unenvironmentally conscious.

We love these chairs. At first upon reading the many reviews claiming they weren't very sturdy I was a bit worried being that I am a 220 lb guy. Also I'm not exactly the easiest on my furniture. After sitting on these chairs for 3 months~ now there is still no wobble or wiggle. Aside from that, these chairs are incredibly aesthetically pleasing in our opinion. They are also very affordable and very comfortable. I would definitely buy these chairs again. Maybe the people who had problems with their sturdiness didn't assemble them well enough. I made sure to tighten all of the screws as much as I could, and even got out the impact wrench for some of them (that might not be recommended as it could strip the screw or split the wood). I'm sure that like any chair we will need to re-tighten some of them. Very pleased with this purchase! ... show more
