I had a rug in the living room in front of the couch and love seat. The dogs drool on it, track dirt in on it, eat their treats on it and sometimes vomit on it. It's gross! It has a light colored background and I was forever vacuuming it and spot treating it. I was on the verge of just throwing it out and getting a new rug but decided to try this Rug Renovator System. Well, I can honestly say, the rug looks brand new again! Now, it did take some 'elbow grease' and I did have to work at it a while to scrub and rescrub some areas, but it really does look SO much better. There's plenty of foam left in the bottle for another use or two, I'm sure. I'll definitely be buying more of the foaming carpet shampoo. I used both sides of the brush (for more aggressive scrubbing and then the light blue side to sort of 'smooth out' the rug sections. That method worked well for my purposes. You could probably use any carpet shampoo, but I liked the one that came with the scrubber. It had no chemical smell and worked great! Would definitely recommend this product. ... show more

The brush is great but the handle is junk. The first one of these I ordered I took three swipes and the handle would not stay extended. I returned that one and received another. It seems to be OK but I have not really scrubbed with it. I needed one for another location. This carpet it really dirty and when I started to scrub the carpet again the handle will not hold. I used it seated on a stool without the handle extended. Now for the spot cleaner. It worked great!!! We purchased a recreation cabin that has white carpet. In the doorway to the master bedroom the carpet was terribly dirty. I have used several different things but nothing has really gotten it clean. I sprayed this on about a 2' X 4' area, worked it with the brush and it looks better. When it says to work in a small area it means about 12" X 12". What I sprayed the first time spotted, clean spots, before I got it brushed in. Reapplying has helped even it out by working in smaller areas. I am ordering more spot cleaner. ... show more

Ok so as others have said, this is a very very good solution for carpet spots. It takes no time at all. It looks like this will eliminate the need for regular professional carpet cleaning in my office, so for me it would be worth it at quadruple the price. I’m using it on a very short looped carpet tile, so the brushing effort is very low. But the pole is fine: it is a metal twist friction lock extending pole. I think people have trouble with it because they don’t extend the pole very far and are pushing down to force the bristles into the carpet: this is unnecessary. Extending the pole means that the angle to the floor is lower, and you don’t need to push down: just move it back and forth. Besides, you can still use any broom handle or extension pole available from Home Depot (or you already have on other brooms/mops) so for something this good it’s dumb to criticize the pole. ... show more

I had very high hopes, and possibly I set my expectations too high. The Scrubber Tool: It's a twist and turn extension type handle. And I believe my carpet is too thick. It's a mixed design of medium and very low pile area rug. I can't use the dark blue brush for deep cleaning because it just gets stuck in the medium pile. So I use the light blue brush but if I put any pressure, the extended handle wants to close on me. I think the brush itself is of value, but I struggle with putting pressure and the handle remaining extended. I'm thinking about gluing the poles together. I really wish they screwed into each other rather than the tension design. The cleaning solution. I am trying to do a general cleaning, not a spot. So I picked a 1 ft by 1ft section to clean first. I followed directions and vacuumed very well. I sprayed, I scrubbed, I sprayed again, I scrubbed and I let it dry overnight. I vacuumed the next morning after checking it was completely dry. I don't see a difference. I had more success seeing results on small spots and high traffic areas on the bedroom low pile carpets. But the handle continues to be an issue for me. ... show more

This brush does not live up to Amazon's quality standards. It's badly made. The handle doesn't lock into place and I need to bend down to get the job done. I have caught my skin on the handle joint a couple of times but haven't drawn blood yet! Don't buy this product until this manufacturer fixes the handle so it doesn't slip. I would request increased product testing to avoid this in the future. ... show more

This works SO well for the 'not-occasional-enough' spot appearances on my carpet. I've had no problem with the handle, but then I'm not all that strong. There's no need to put too much pressure on the handle, anyway. I just spread in a little of the spot solution, let it do a bit of work on its own for about 2 minutes, then do the scrubbing. It does great! Also, in the event that I do lose handle function, the insert screw-in part is universally sized, I can use one of my other mop handles. ... show more

The spray nozzle on the bottle only sprays in a stream. It is a foam and it doesn’t spread out when you scrub it with the brush. I had to spray some water on my rug in order for it to clean it properly. The brush itself is good. The pole however, kept sliding down even after tightening it multiple times.
