Firstly, I would like to state that I am a first-time watch purchaser. With that said, let's get into the review. With regard to design, the stainless steel case is the highlight of the watch. It is eye-catching, but not in a glaringly obvious way. The clock face has an interesting textured finish that may shift in appearance depending on the angle at which the watch catches light. The hands of the watch are just the right size, with thin profiles that don't clutter up space. A plus is that the hands are luminous should one need to look at the time in a dark environment, but the degree to which they are luminous depends on how much light exposure the watch receives during the day. Being an Eco-Drive, this watch runs on light, and can accumulate energy from any light source (the sun being the best bet). For a frame of reference for how long the watch can run, the manual stated that a full charge is achieved with 30 hours of direct sunlight exposure, and that a full charge can keep the watch going for 8 months. However, this is assuming there is no additional light exposure over that duration, which is an unlikely scenario. What I did to with it right out of the box was put it by an open window (with a screen, of course) for couple of days. After that, it was good to go. I've had it for a little over two months now, and leave it by the window when I'm not wearing it. In terms of comfort, I have worn this watch for hours at a time without any complaints. The composite band has two loops and a buckle enclosure to secure it on your arm/wrist, and do a pretty good job of securing the watch while also causing minimal irritation. The band does occasionally loosen up enough to let the watch slide a bit, but this is fixed with a quick adjustment. Pricing on this watch fluctuates a bit on Amazon, but seems to stay steady around the mid-100 range (130-160). It might be worth waiting until the price goes back down from about $145, which is the price as of the writing of this review (3/17/15). Overall, I am very happy with this particular model. While I have little experience with watches, I can appreciate a well-crafted one, and for the price I paid this one definitely fits the bill. Running on light is just an added bonus. Citizen is a good entry-level watch brand, and their Eco-Drive technology is great, you never have to worry about changing the battery in your watch, and in the years I've had them, the Eco-Drives keep the time very accurately once set. I got this watch to replace my everyday $40 digital Timex from Walmart, and it's an okay watch, although a bit too dressy-looking for everyday purposes and it's too delicate to wear outdoors camping or hiking, or working outdoors. I also don't prefer the lack of numerals on the dial, and am looking to get another good quality watch with numerals for easier reading for everyday purposes. But this watch is great and looks great if you're wearing a shirt and tie, suit, etc. The hands and ticks on the dial are luminescent in the dark, although not very bright, but it is very functional, and a good value for the money. When I took the watch out its box the first time, I just knew (felt) that this is class. It is well constructed, even when you pull out the crown. You can dress it up or down, given the timeless design and color. It doesn't just sit on top of my wrist, it hugs my wrist like it was designed for it - very comfortable and soft. Have had this watch almost a month now just over 3 weeks. Watch has held its time to the second. The watch seems to hold up well and is very sleek. You can wear just going to get groceries to a formal event or having fun outdoors without looking out of place. I have not tested it swimming yet but will be another update for that. The cons only are with the strap. While the design looks nice it's function is mediocre. The watch will slip backwards and needs to be adjusted forward constantly. If I tighten to next notch it causes sweat and is a bit to tight especially since rubber doesn't breathe. The band's to hold the excess strap down tend to slide up allowing the flap to stick out. To remedy this I have bought a NATO strap which feels much better and comfortable. I have provided pictures of this as to show the look. Many people have asked and don't see many or any of these with a NATO. This watch fits the 22mm straps. I give the watch 5 stars while the band I give the band on the watch a 2. Update: 10/25/2019 I have taken this watch to the beach a few times in very rough conditions. I have sprayed high pressure hose on it, been covered and stick in sand and mud, banged around a bit. This thing had pretty much gone through the gauntlet. Hasn't lost time and have had no issues. This watch is a lot tougher than it looks. ... show more
