  • Initially was disappointed, tech support was great
UPDATE 08/27023. Just adding after owning this. Unit is still going strong. The Breez can be integrated with Google Home so you can bring up Google Assistant and say "Turn on Bedroom AC" as you're driving home and it'll do so and issue voice commands for the usual stuff. I also had a further discussion with tech support about the remote configuration issue. Here's something I learned - the "controller" that receives the signals from the remote in a lot of lower end window ACs *are actually the exact same hardware as its higher BTU models*. This means there are HIDDEN FEATURES in these remotes that are "shut off" from you if you buy lower BTU ACs. Apparently I inadvertently upgraded the controls of my window AC by programming the Cielo Breez to emulate a *higher end digital remote*. This is why I can now simply set the thermostat TO a particular temperature instead of mashing repeatedly on the screen to wait for it to increment. I can go from Low to High fan speed and vice versa. I can directly pick a particular cooling mode without cycling through them, etc. If you have an LG LW6017R (6000 BTU) window AC unit, talk with the Cielo tech support and ask them about this! You will be able to give yourself a significant upgrade to your controls if you manually program the remote to match "the next closest one". Your experience with this product will greatly depend on whether or not the product is able to 1) properly detect your room humidity/temperature and 2) properly be able to detect your remote that has a feature set that matches yours. I have a dumb window AC and my biggest gripe with it was the inability to control its functions with the remote that had serious range issues. The remote that came with my LG window air conditioner was really bad - had limited range, even if I changed out the battery it would barely broadcast a signal from 3 feet away. I also wanted to be able to schedule when the machine turns on and off. I hate having to set the timer every time I leave for the day. So out of curiosity I did a Google search wondering if such a controller that could work with "dumb" ACs existed. Another brand showed up (Sensibo), and then this one did. I went with the Breez for several reasons. One, the "cloud" service is free. The other requires you to pay for "advanced features". Two, even this higher end model costs less than the rival brand, and most importantly this does not require a wall mount. It comes with a stand that you can attach to it so you can have it sitting on your desk or nightstand. If you rent a house, you'll know how important this is so you don't have to make holes on the wall or tape stuff to the wall. Lastly, the onscreen touch display allows you to control the AC unit manually without the need for the app, which gives you further flexibility since that makes the Cielo Breez essentially a full-blown thermostat. The onscreen display allows you to control a majority of your AC's functions - mode, temperature, fan speed, and for more fancy ACs - your flap panel. The biggest caveat is compatibility, however. I initially set my Thermostat up using the auto configuration tool and it picked out a remote that was essentially the "generic profile". This profile sucked. I had no control over the modes, had to press repeatedly for certain fan speeds, and temperature control was difficult as well. For a "smart" controller it made the controller feel incredibly "dumb". I spoke with their tech support and told them about this, and they helped me go through the manual control process and to pick out a model that is closest to what I have. Now that I picked out a good model, I can do all the fine tuning I need. I can instantly pick a mode from the app, I can instantly set a particular fanspeed without having to cycle through them and I can set my setpoint temperature quickly and efficiently. *Big caveat*, you will most likely need to calibrate the unit's hygrometer (the thing that keeps track of your room temperature and humidity). The unit I got often measured 2-4 degrees Farenheit higher than another hygrometer I have (which I also bought from Amazon many years ago for $15 and still going strong by the way!) and humidity was often 2-3% higher as well. The app provides this opportunity to do an offset. You want this to be as accurate as possible so the comfort you're feeling right now without the smart controller matches how it'll be when you have this thing take over. Power is provided through an electrical hookup and it also comes with a regular AC adapter in case you just want to do it the old fashioned way, which I did. In conclusion, if you're experiencing performance issues with the unit, don't angirly write a review just yet - get on the Cielo website during normal business hours and contact their support, they have an online chat feature! From what I can tell their support is sourced from within the US as the person I spoke with was fluent and clearly could communicate what needed to be done. ... show more

  • Best WiFi thermostat available
i purchased and installed two mini-split air conditioners that heat and cool. They didn’t come with a WiFi control capability so i went looking for options. Ones made by the manufacturer were costly and hard to install but I found some that had limited capability but the two I tried were tricky to install and use and not universally compatible. This was an issue for me since my mini-splits were from different manufacturers (Mitsubishi and Pioneer), and getting one unit that would allow me to control each unit from a single app on my phone was a bridge too far. After struggling several, each of which offered limited features, were temperamental to install and use, and that would not control both units, I finally I found the Cielo. It does nearly everything the factory controllers would do, it was much, much easier to install and use, and it allows me to control both mini-splits via WiFi from anywhere using a single app. Now I can heat or cool my rooms in advance of need, and they are perfectly comfortable when I arrive. There’s nothing to not love about these units. They do the job and the WiFi app is simple and reliable, as it works every time and does just what I want it to do. It’s so good that I bought their newest offering, the Cielo Smart Thermostat, for controlling my central system. I will post a review on that later, but it seems to be working perfectly so far. The control features are as good as or better than many of the big name competitors at a substantially lower price, and they integrate with Siri, Google, Alexa, and SmartThings. I’m very impressed with the performance of these Cielo thermostats. Even when I had some issues during setup I found their technical support to be superb. They offer phone, chat, and email support and during their operating hours (9am - 9pm Eastern Time) they are fast to respond. In my experience they have been very knowledgeable, patient, and effective, they answered my every question and quickly resolved minor issues that arise during my setup. Based on my experience with Cielo I recommend them very highly. My summary would be that they work with many different mini-splits, they are easy to setup and use, and when they are not they offer very responsive and effective tech support, they are full featured, including the ability to control the mini-splits from the screen on the Cielo device, and they sell at a very reasonable price. ... show more

  • Perfect for remote control and great tech support
I have three of these and I love them. Two are at a vacation home and I can adjust heat or AC before I start my drive so that house is confy when I get there. It was a piece of cake to set up and, when I've needed it, the tech support has been great. Just got off the phone with Jason because I replaced the mini-split unit and he solved my issue is about 5 minutes (and there was almost no wait time to get support). Other than that, they just work. ... show more

  • Works well, but I have a suggestion
This works great for the basic functions (same as manufacturer remote). I put this in my sunroom. I keep getting errors with the timer function (it won’t turn the ac off). The schedule time/temperature on-off function is great until you try to combine it with the “comfy” feature. I’m very technically minded, but their instructions are quite confusing. I recommend separating the schedule function (single temperature with a time on and off) from the “comfy” feature (temperature range turns the unit on/off). When you combine the two, my ac gets confused. I suggest adding a on/off schedule option in the comfy settings, giving the user an option to program a temperature range with a definite on/off time. ... show more
