This is a pretty basic "k-cup" coffee maker. My wife and I aren't coffee drinkers, but we sometimes have guests who are, and rather than needing to keep coffee grounds or beans around that will go bad after a while (we have a small traditional coffee pot but it uses regular grounds!), keeping k-cups on hand makes much more sense! That way it's also easier to keep a variety on hand for different tastes, plus we can use hot chocolate pods if we want for ourselves :-) The device itself is almost all plastic, with a few metal parts inside. Not the sturdiest appliance but it will be more than adequate for our needs and at this price point. Basically you fill your coffee mug with however much water/liquid you want, pour that into the coffee maker, add a pod, close it up and hit Go (oh be sure the mug is in place!). Takes 2-3 minutes and it will use all the water you put into it (hence why you should measure it using the coffee cup you plan to brew into!). Very fast and much less messy than dealing with grounds and filters, and more flexible since everyone can have whatever they want. The bright red body may be a little much for some people, but it actually works well in a variety of decors, including modern and mid-century (like ours).

This is extremely light weight. It is a vibrant bright red, matt finish, plastic on the outside. It is black plastic under the lid. The tank is black. I can see the metal heating element at the bottom of the tank. It is compact. I could carry this in my lunch tote to work every day. That's how small and light it is. I did not have to wait. The heating of the water was done in 2 minutes, The 12 ounce cup of coffee was brewed in less than 1 minute. If does the job, efficiently. When I picked up my coffee mug, I was shocked at how hot it was. The water must have reached boiling. The outside of the mug was too hot to hold. I had to carry it by the handle. I used my stainless steel reusable pod in the capsule holder. It fit well. The machine is versatile. Your portion size must be between 5-12 ounces. Leave the drip grill in for small cups. Remove it for mugs. Max recommended mug height is 5.5 inches tall. I don't normally use electric coffee makers because the hot water travels through some plastic parts. But there are some days where I just don't feel like watching a pot boil, and I just can't be be bothered cleaning a french press. On those days, these coffee makers are so fast and convenient. They can really get you through a rough day. You can use it with an empty stainless steel pod to make plain hot water. This can be added to a mug for tea, hot cocoa, instant oatmeal, or anything else that uses hot water. Great for traveling or dorm life. This does what it's supposed to do, and does it very quickly. 5 STARS!

This is a great little coffee maker that fits well with our kitchen decor! It comes in a number of colors that will match various color themes. It's simple to use. I filled my cup with water, (up to 12 ounces), poured it into the rear water heating chamber and placed my empty cup under the filler. For chocolate milk or tea I can just heat the water or I can add a coffee pod in the front chamber and close the lid. One push on the large black start button and an LED blue coffee symbol lets me know the process has started. It took about 2-3 minutes to heat the water and expect pump and hot water noises as the cup is being filled. I tried using the refillable K-cup coffee pods with this unit and although they're the exact same size, it was difficult to latch the lid. I'm not sure why but I think the refillable cover is thicker and less pliable than a disposable pod. With some extra pressure on the cover I was able to get it closed but I can't say it's a great fit. Bottom Line: Easy to use, looks great and works perfectly. The unit doesn't come apart easily for cleaning as the only thing that's removable is a water filter in the filler chamber. Makes a little noise while working but nothing too annoying. Two thumbs up!
