For outside mount, shade should be 4 - 6 wider than window frame, shade length should be at least 2 longer than the window length for better coverage.

i LOVE these shades! i bought two for my living room and fell in love with how they filter light. they aren’t black out, which i prefer, but you would need an additional form of filtering if you want more privacy. they are pretty easy to install (unless one window frame is a half inch smaller than the other thank you rental). definitely buying more for the other windows in my house!!

These are great especially for the price. I ordered about 10 of them over the last few months and put them on our windows. We are getting new windows installed but the heat was really bad. They let light in and keep the heat out. Make sure you follow the measurement procedure exactly and they will fit perfectly. Very fast shipping and great communication from the seller on all orders. The product itself is great. East install, simple function. Decent quality, especially for the price. Window treatments are insanely expensive in the stores, particularly when you buy something “custom.” This gets the job done and looks nice. Was hoping this could let some light in a bathroom window, but also provide a bit of privacy. Definitely not the case. My neighbors will get a show at night! As long as you it is pretty transparent and that works for your windows, I recommend!

The customization of this was key. We have a massive opening and this did such a good job. Wanted to be able to see outside still but have some privacy. You can still see into it from outside so it really just dulls the view but I love it.

We have a picture window that faces southwest. In the summer, standing directly in front of the window, it feels a lot warmer than elsewhere in the room and I'm sure it increased air conditioning cost. I did not want the reflective film because solar gain in cold weather is desirable. I also wanted something that would let some light in and I could have some view of the yard. I noticed this kind of shade at a doctor's office and began searching. This shade lets in some light and gives a filtered view of the outside while cutting out much of the solar gain. They also are easy to open and close, fit well, look nice, and can be raised so they are covered by the valance. Very pleased with these and recommend them. Note: These are not for privacy at night with room lights on.

They fit nicely and work well during the day. However, they don't offer privacy at night. You can see straight through them. So, I had to keep the curtains up under them for night time use. If you are looking for see out but not in blinds, keep looking! Also, they are not cheap.
