For inside mount, window frame should have at least 2 depth, and blackout roller shades will have a tiny light gap on each side. To avoid light gap, consider the outside mount. For outside mount, shade should be 4 - 6 wider than window frame, shade length should be at least 2 longer than the window length for better coverage.

I had this product up in about 10 minutes after taking down the old blinds. It fits the window good and rests against the frame for a complete block out of the street light. It is in my son's room and he likes the chain instead of the pull down like the old ones. Only complaint is the plastic gear is kinda clunky and makes more noise than some other ones that I have seen. Guess next time I will research a bit more to find one with smoother rolling. Overall I am pleased with it.

These planes really do block out, light and heat and cold! I bought three to put on the windows in my south facing bedroom that gets super hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. It is already cold out right now 32° at night and sitting near the window was very cold. I just installed his blind at 6 AM. It took me all of five minutes and I love it! I do not feel the cold draft coming in the window any Longer, and it was the perfect fit! I recommend when measuring you something flat like a yardstick. That way you can tell where you need the brackets to be on each side of your window. I ordered my blinds to fit inside the trim so that it’s on the inside of the window and not covering the trim. Need these for every room now!
