We love shaved ice from food trucks, but there aren't many events around here, and it costs $6.00. We had an electric model that only used ice cubes, so that was more like chipped ice, which we don't like. It also was really slow because the cubes wouldn't feed through the shute correctly. This little number is all you need! It makes true shaved ice that's fluffy like snow. I make my own flavored syrup with sugar and drink mixes. It's also great for making slushies. It only comes with one ice puck mold, but I make them ahead and keep in a zip lock bag in the freezer. I know you can buy extra molds, but an 8 oz. Daisy Sour Cream container is just about the same size. I do wish I could find the correct replacement blades in case this one ever gets dull.

I had been craving snow cones for a while and was envious of those ones I saw on YT at the Asian markets. So I decided to give it a look when I had some Reward points to use up. I found this MANUAL one for about the lowest price on here plus with the points, I hardly 'paid' anything That being said, it has a rubber ring on the bottom which keeps it from slipping. My hand was able to be placed on the top to hold it in place without any problems. I froze the water in the container that comes in the box. It has a lid and opens up easily. Once I had the ice block in the shaver, I started to turn the handle. BOY, DOES THIS HAVE A SMOOTH ACTION! THE 'SNOW' STARTED COMING OUT RIGHT AWAY AND LASTED UNTIL IT WAS ALL GONE. There is a bowl that catches the shaved snow, but if you lose either of these 2 containers, you could probably find replacements in your own food storage containers cabinet. I used cherry syrup and the snow cone was very refreshing. The containers and machine are easy to clean. NOTE: I have figured out I DON"T HAVE TO BUY THE EXPENSIVE SYRUPS. I just pour my favorite drinks (like gatorade, coffee) into the 'ice' bowl instead of water and then I freeze them. Now, if you will be wanting to pour multiple flavors onto you snowball, you will need to buy the syrups. But, overall I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product. I gave it a 4 bc it would be nice to have extra ice bowls for multiple users, otherwise you will have to find similar cups to be able to produce multiple servings one after the other.

I was worried the one block of ice was not enough and I was thinking there should be two or more containers to make multiple blocks. I still may refill it and put the blocks of ice in a bag in the freezer or something. But the one block made three large glasses of shaved ice. Very pleased. It is hard to get the ice out of the container, even by running hot water over it. I have Raynaud's syndrome so this is a little difficult, but I will figure out a way. I like the rubber bottom that keeps it from slipping. The product is easy to use.

I love to eat shaved ice, but this machine is a waste of time and money

The ice never came out 100% shaved. If you don't make a single puck of ice with the cup it came with, you naturally will use ice from your freezer. If you use anything other than that cup's single puck of ice, the quality of your shaved ice will be mediocre at best. When I was using my own ice, this crusher put several large chunks of ice in with some snowy parts. I wanted shaved ice, not crushed ice. I didn't want to have to rely on the cup as the only way to get the desired results as I have an automatic ice maker. It was difficult to turn, mainly because it kept going off-kilter and sliding across the counter (despite having grips on the bottom). I ended up returning it and investing in a powered unit.
