    • First job was Rotar and pad replacement
My first use and the reason I bought the book was to replace the front rotors and pads. I don't know why the book received poor reviews from others because it wasn't step by step enough, but how much detail do you need? I think if you need more detail than this book is giving you, you probably shouldn't be doing the work yourself. DIY's require a bit of common sense, right? Anyway, I think the detail was just fine, I got my calipers, and pads off, I used the info it talked about using a hook to hold your caliper so the weight doesn't effect the hose, etc. The only reason I will give this 4 stars and not 5, is that I do think they could have added some info on what to do if the retaining screws strip, which they will. They could have also added more info as to how to prevent the screws from stripping, by applying heat from a blow torch for about a minute, and than slamming the screw driver bit with a hammer into the screw head. I used an impact driver, and out of 4 screws, only one came out using heat and impact driver. After searching online, I found the fix to it, but the book could have added that. Not quite the fault of them leaving it out, would have been useful. I still think the book is great, and look forward to doing the next project! ... show more

If this is the best manual out there.... the manuals are just ok. However, there are lots of free repair videos and tutorials on the web on car repair. I think this Manual would be far better if it had a accompanying website with Videos. Seems like common sense to me but they don't have it.

very poor photos and covers too many varieties of these cars, lacks detail, better to get info from Youtube.

CHILTON's books are not directly supported by the various car manufacturers; they claim to disassemble the subject car and take notes and pictures. I have found that steps are sometimes missed and the pictures are often not of top quality. That said, the books are useful for many repairs. You do have to really read the section for your repair and then any other sections referenced in the first one. For example, if you want to change a cabin air filter, they may say something like, "First remove the glove box (see section 12-3)" Do review that section. Also compare the pictures with the physical reality until you understand the picture. . . ... show more
