Wanted something to assist in catching our chickens when they're hesitant to go back in the coup after free ranging. On our land we have low to the ground cedar trees so once the chickens get in there it's hard to get them out. Figured the poles would be a good tool to grab them. They do telescope so they're certainly long enough to reach into the middle of the trees but the problem is it's difficult to catch their leg with the hook on the pole. They are already wise to this and as soon as I try and hook them they just jump up to get away from the hook. Little bastards are pretty smart. You can catch them once in a while but they are fast so you really have to get lucky to catch them around the leg and the hook to stop on their feet which keeps them from getting away. At first I thought I just needed some practice but it really is pretty difficult to snare them with this contraption. Mileage may vary but that's been my experience. ... show more

I wanted this to be an effective way to catch my hens … but i couldn’t get the hang of it no matter how I tried. So good luck but I wouldn’t count on this working I wish there were videos of successful attempts.

    • Not useable without terrorizing the hens.
Never caught a chicken with it. Terrorizes them so much that I only tried using it a couple of times.

Bought this for my husband. Sent him excitedly off to the CoOp to use his new hook. Broke immediately.
